Modern Divorce

Step1: Get the nerves to say it.
Step2: Stop shaking, because its not a fight. *whew*
Step3: Split key assets: savings, DVD collections, TV, digital camera. In that order.
Step4: Change your Myspace Top Friends.
Step5: Blog it.

Laugh together, tell the honest truths you've both been holding back. Move on with your lives. I can't believe it was so easy, and yet so hard.

To Do List
In no particular order:

- Establish TX Residency *shudders*
- Buy a bed
- Fill out application for new apartment
- Decide what last name to change to...I want to be creative but not kooky, any ideas?
~~Dear Mom: I'll change back to my birth name if you do.
- Separate bills
- Do my homework...this is not a good excuse for procrastinating! (and yet I am)
~~Its Monday, why am I worrying about my lab report? I should be doing Calculus or reading Twelfth Night.
- Find someone with a truck to help me move a desk and a bookshelf. Volunteers?
~~ Should probably find out if the desk will fit through the door without being completely disassembled. *No disassemble! Johnny 5 is alliiiiiivvvve!*

Home

I just cannot fully describe how good it feels to be home. Just crossing the TX/OK border gave an instant feeling that everything was greener, fuller, beautiful. Driving through Kansas was amazing, and all you people who say Kansas is boring and flat can go stick their fingers in their eyes. I got South End's typical less than rosy welcome, and I know alot has changed. I just felt so strange driving into a hometown that I can't remember how to get around.

If I hadn't been driving, I would have taken pictures. Maybe Traci can drive the turnpike on the way back.

Oh man, how I dread going back to shabby Texass.

Talkin' about the weather

So the weather here has been stuck in a kind of pattern for so long that I cannot remember what it was like before. It is as if every day is the same. Mostly overcast and cool but pleasant mornings (when I bother waking up that early), rainy afternoons, stormy evenings and nights. It is very green outside, and I feel as if I have already been magically transported far far away from the West Texas semi-desert.

RSVP

Not to be all self-centered, but I haven't been home in over 2 years. So I really want to spend time with my friends and family. Traci and I are driving up on the 15th or 16th of May, and starting our return to dreaded Texas on the 28th.

If you want to hang out, but your work schedule will be tight, let me know what days you're free. Manders has offered me her spare bed to crash, so I'll be in St. Joe mostly after all that exhausting shopping and partying. *Big Thanks!*

I'm trying to plan a get-together with all the Upward Bound buddies sometime. Let me know if you're interested.

A Little Diversion

I like the feel of stormy days. Its been dark for awhile, so that it feels later than it is.

The worst of the storm has passed this area. Michael called me from work saying there was a tornado spotted in town. The news out of San Angelo and Abilene both reported alot of stuff, but not that. I took the storm seriously enough anyway. Threw a pillow in the master bathtub, moved his laptop to the back closet. The bathroom is the only windowless room with no mirror and is as close as possible to the center of our building, given that we have a second-floor apartment.

I just have to wonder why houses in this area have no basements or anything. Craziness and stupidity. They also make themselves very vulnerable to flash flooding because there are no storm drains at all.

Alert

BLAT: Bacon, Lettuce (baby greens), Avacado, Tomato. Pretty sure there was some mayo or something in there too. Really hit the spot.

Also, I'm watching Judging Amy, and the sound went out. In 5 minutes they might get around to the beeping. Oh wait. The alert is so quiet i have to turn the sound way up just to hear that they are saying anything. I heard the word tornado. I'll have to check weather.com. Damn Texas.

Stars

Just got back from a nice refreshing walk with the hubby. *sigh* We hate Texas. Our list of places that would be maybe okay to live? Colorado, D.C area(maybenot), Oregon, Washington. Biggest complaint about Texass? There is not a damn ounce of culture in this place. Also, it smells. Skunks, sewage, skunks, mmm potato wedges *follows nose*...

Only thing I like about this place? The stars, but thats only because this is a medium/small city and this area doesn't have much light pollution. The Orionid meteor shower is this weekend. I slept through best viewing this morning, but maybe there will still be something to see if I stay up tonight. If I had a small backyard telescope, I would catch the comet Swan cruising through. *sigh* No such luck.

In other news? I wish we would go look at more apartments. I wish I was more motivated for school. These and more I would wish upon a shooting star, if I see any tonight.

In response to Chloe:

Is Goonies the one with the big dog? I dunno, I'm a complete outcast on 'classic' movies like that.

I've had volunteer work that made me feel bad, especially visiting old people, especially vets, especially during the holidays. But some makes me feel good, like tutoring kids, which is weird, because I despise other people's offspring.

I hate dogs. Destructive disgusting beasts.
Also hate cats. Evil disgusting beasts.

When I eventually live a settled life, I want to get an African Gray Parrot.

I was at a public bathroom an hour ago that smelled like maybe the sanitary napkin trash hadn't been taken out. Rotten un-ladylike odor...

I've only eaten (i originally typed eated) Thai food twice, because even the 'not spicy' food burns my tongue off.

Random, completely unrelated information:
I didn't eat any lunch today, but I did take a lunch break.
My arms hurt.
I have 3 homework assignments due on Monday, and 2 due on Tuesday.
Today is Sci-Fi Friday.
Micheal and I are looking for an apartment to move into in December.
Ants. Fucking Ants.
There are no curry restaurants in San Angelo.
Scratch- There are no good restaurants in San Angelo.

The Ants Go Marching...

As the vaccum roars to life and the horrific tube of death approaches, the ants struggle as fast as their little legs can carry them. Their tiny minds are overwhelmed with the idea that such a vile machine can even exist. "I don't want to believe in a universe that contains this horrible thing!!"

*Shwoop...*

Yeah, well I don't want to live in Texas. I guess you should've thought of that before you walked into my damn house and bit me. Fukkers.

Okay, while there are actually ants swarming about my feet, I'm starting to think some of this is in my head. Now that I know they're there and I've been bit a few times, I'm getting these creapy-crawly feelings all the time. Maybe its the ants, but maybe my husband has been gone for 3 weeks and I havn't had a reason to shave my legs...
