Four Months

Wow. That is definitely a new record for not posting to my blog. Of course I only realized it because of some annoying spam comment that kept reappearing on my most recent post. That is just tragic.

I went ahead and updated my settings to enforce word verification (sorry) and comment moderation on older posts because it takes me an aggravating amount of time to figure out how to delete a posted comment.

Now I just need to make a commitment to updating this lovely space! I blame facebook, of course. Friends have mentioned that I am about to the point of updating my facebook status with "is now updating her facebook status." It is so much easier than blogging! It is also less deep, and facebook isn't really the best forum for real introspection.

Tomorrow, (TOMORROW, the procrastinator assures you all!!!) I will make a nice update post for the blog. It has been a long summer, maybe I can just copy/paste all my facebook status messages...OW! Ok fine! I was just kidding!

Mostly.

My Townie

wiblick has made a request:

"I'm thinking of buying an electra townie 700C 8 speed and NO ONE can tell me anything about it, especially regarding seat height. I'm 5ft 2 as well and would be really interested in hearing your thoughts.Could you mail me? Let me know what model you bought etc. Can you really sit comfortably and have your feet flat to the ground? Do you have a pannier thingy?

or maybe just do an post to your blog about it?"

I have been ASKED to blog! *overwhelmed*

My Townie is a 7D, but I have no idea about the tires. The D refers to the rear derailleur, meaning it has an extra fancy doohickey instead of regular gears. I'm not sure what the advantages of that are, but the 8 doesn't seem to have it. My seat is adjusted so that I can stand flat on the ground while on the saddle if I'm wearing a slightly chunky heel, but there's plenty of room to adjust down if I wanted to be more comfortable in flats. I've seen people on regular bikes, straining to get their tippy-toes on the ground while sitting, and how awkward that is. Also, I love the wide saddle that comes with my Townie.

May be a concern for you: I don't see a step-through version of the 8 speed on the Electra website. Step-through and flat-foot are what makes it so comfortable IMHO, and I don't see it being as good without both. Then again, I'm clumsy. *shrug*

I had the rear rack installed, but make sure you have them use a longer screw, because one that come with the rack popped loose on my first long ride. It wasn't a safety issue, but you obviously don't want that. My other accessories include front and rear blinkey LEDs and a CatEye mirror. Very important since I drive on roads like a car, and its getting darker in the mornings. I'm currently lusting after some fenders, because I'm tired of ringing out my socks and because Texas lied to me about being a semi-desert.

I have a Basil Blossom pannier, which sadly I cannot recommend. They're deadly cute on my bike, but they aren't easily/reasonably removable or collapsible, and don't keep their form (makes them look frumpy). They connect to the rack with buckles, but the frame weirdly with velcro that always come loose, and they shift back into my spokes on an uphill when loaded. They do, however, hold lots of stuff for the price, so I'm not replacing them anytime soon.

It really is a comfortable ride. The sitting position is great for seeing everything around, and not hunched over the handlebars, no strain on my hands, and comfortable starts and stops. Seven speeds seem like enough for me, so I never have to stand to pedal or get off and push up a hill .The best is coasting downhill, such a pleasant rush!

I can post to my blog, but not read it. The library filer says "Text of web page appears to be pornographic."

They have no idea ;)

Requests

Blogger has released something I love love love: Blogger Play which "is a real-time slideshow of photos Blogger users have recently uploaded to their blogs."

My Requests are two:
1) How can I put the stream from Blogger Play into the sidebar of my blog?
That would rock, and it would put the images to an audience outside writers.

2) How do I get Adsense to display something without the word "blog" in it.
Who displays ads for blogging? Dumb. I write about all kinds of things, parrots, Science Fiction, college... In fact, in all posts outside this one, I write the word "glob" or "bl*g" in a futile attempt to make Adsense display something relevant. I am annoyed.
**Update** Apparently posting this did the trick. Go figure.
**Update 2** I have once again removed ads from my page. Why? I clicked through one of them and it was a series of lists of links to lists of links to lists of links enter your email here bullshit. Yea, clicking on your own adspace is against the rules, and I bet that's why. Of course I've never clicked on anyone else's either, so I guess its all about balance.

Toys

Hi Stewie! Thanks for adding us to your roll, Rigel is happy to know he has a following. :)

He has two really favorite toys. One I call jingly balls, plastic whiffle-type balls with bells inside. They are even more fun with a plain tissue sticking out of a hole. The other is my husband’s ring. It’s titanium so it won’t get scratched at all. He likes to take it off our fingers in a wiggle motion and…well the rest needs to be recorded for full appreciation for how much he loves it.

He had no interest in the Bird Buddy (by Happy Hut) except for the strings. Anything with strings is just a toy with annoying things hanging off it.

So yeah, the nice $10 toys, he’s not so interested. Go figure.

I never got him a treat labyrinth because I got him the treats that go in it, and he is uninterested so far. My shirts function very well as shredding toys. *doh* He has a rope comfy perch, but I’m still not sure if he would like a swing. Maybe next month. Speaking of wood ladders, it appears he knocked his over in the last 10 minutes. Huh.

Search Terms

Whoa.

I use Google Analytics and it shows a great deal of information, including what searches have led people here. There aren't many, but a recent one caught my eye.

smash mouse up so the blood goes around the computer

I shit you not.

Here are the rest:
prichuto ham pics
outlook quotes "until i type"
kvm mouse doesn't work unless you unplug and plug
dead mouse "computer"
computer wont notice mouse
"went to" palladium imax -showtimes
"sean maher" + plymouth
"mitchell's seafood"
"jane goodall"
its a bit nutty mp3
eureka series "fanfic" adult -anime "scifi"
relic health
"great machine" zathras
right sided low abdo twinge and irregular bleeding
tj chem exam
working late night survey
"ardency rue"

It doesn't tell me what page exactly that it hit on, but I suppose this mouse rant is my most popular.

I had no idea that Eureka already has "adult fanfic" and I just have to wonder how sad that person's life is. Yes I like Fanfic, but Eureka?

I hope whoever was looking for medical info found what she needed.

Oh yeah, Ardency Rue is the best.

Just Another Day

The movie review paper was a waste of effort. The last exam came back, and I still had an A in the class. I studied less, if at all really. Also, the paper was graded on the basis of "did you turn it in? and did it fit the technical requirements? I'm pretty sure he didn't even read them. Whatever, I'll take 20 points. So I expect to put no further effort into Govt 2301. Yesterday I was so painfully bored that I got up and left 20 minutes early, just to check the system and make sure he wasn't the one teaching Govt 2302. I was going to drop and register for someone else if not.

Chemistry is getting harder. 2 weeks left in this term. Wish me luck.

Oh, and I put this on the myspace glob the other day, forgot to cross-post:

Perfect Spheres
Apparently the current object being used as a standard for measurement is deteriorating, and that sucks. So, the Australians are making perfect speres of exactly 1kilogram so they can measure it exactly and tell us how many atoms of that material make up 1 kilogram.

So most people wouldn't find this interesting, but I do.

Globbing

I'm really tired of the stoopid ads (that i put there on purpose, of my own free will, i know) coming up with ads for the word blog. Therefore that word is now stricken from my typing, and shall forevermore be known as glob.

Yeah yeah yeah, get over it.

Anal-ytics

When I put up the new site, I also started using Google Analytics. Hey, if I am going to talk to myself, I would at least like to be aware of the fact nobody is listening. It was making me sad though, that nobody even checked me out, followed the links I put for you. Ungrateful little bastiges. And I cried a little e-tear, until I realized I've seen Hubby check it at least twice in the last few days, and I've checked it too obviously there's no filter set at all so I should have seen about 4 hits a day. But no. So I checked out with GA, and it says it's getting data, bla bla bla [this long post is me avoiding studying, can't you tell?] bla... but I decided not to believe it and checked the code on blogger, and there's nothing, so I put it back. Wonder how that happened?

Anywhoo...its getting awful lonely without you folks talking to me, and I need your e-love to get me through the day...*shiny puppy-eyes*

Hurts to Type

I have somehow damaged my knuckle. The one for my pointer finger on my right hand. I cannot grasp anything, and it hurts to type. It also hurts if I forget and let it fall into whatever position to rest. I had a baggie of frozen cranberries on it to reduce the swelling, plus some OTC pain pills. I found earlier today that I can do things like pour from a pitcher of tea, as long as I lift the pointer finger and don't use it at all. Last night I thought it was something in the joint between fingers, but that doesn't seem to be the case.

The pain is probably from a combination of factors. I had a hard time supporting myself in a yoga pose on Thursday. I created a new blog and copied 75 posts on...Friday? Also, I have a bad habit of sleeping on my side with my hand under my head.

Oh, last night while Michael was playing a movie, I finished reading a Dr. Who book. It was very good. Unfortunately I ended up awake until 2:00am, and didn't wake until about 1:00pm. Not a productive weekend at all. I feel like crud.

Self-Control

I am now very tired, and I have spent the entire day on my butt. This is post #75 on the new site. I picked up every slightly meaningful post from 30 Nov 2005 to 31 Mar 06, which is where I previously left off saving links.

These are some titles that I thought were safe, but were not:

Then I started at present and worked my way backwards through April. I made myself stop there for tonight, because at this point I must sleep. Michael's wants to see Spiderman 3 tomorrow, and I want to catch an early (cheaper, shorter lines) showing.

So....***UpdateAgain!***

So about that annotated bibliography, I'm not in the mood, okay. I decided I'm not doing any more homework until I clear the disaster area that my office has become. I don't even know where to stack things anymore. I have to move my printer to a more stable spot. I cannot work in here, and I'm tired of doing my work on my couch (coutch? why does neither one look right? why am I not going to look it up?) because it hurts my wrist to use the mouse from that angle.

Also, I'm still kinda annoyed about this iPod thing. Someone please help, before I pull my ears off from the frustration.

Greetings to Wade, new subscriber, who I do not know.
What possibly drew you to my humble bloggy?
Probably my excessive, yet classy, use of oversized smileys and profanity.
Welcome
Relic

***Update*** I figured it out, but its even more frakkin annoying. The iPod plays in the exact order you originally added to the playlist. But iTunes doesn't ever show them in that order, so it was confusing, and I can't add something to the middle of a playlist later. Mother. Fucker.

***Update2*** RTFM Again

To reorder songs manually, select the playlist you want to reorder, then drag the song titles into the order you want to hear them. If you can't drag a song, click the column heading with the numbers to sort the playlist by play order. You can't reorder songs if they're sorted by one of the other headings, or if shuffle is turned on.
Also, my bloody ears are now sitting on the desk, so I won't be needing the iPoop after all.

Finely Crafted Space Vessel

Some insight into the world of the nerd. Actually, I was just posting this email string for my own entertainment, but feel free to enjoy it. I was taking Pre-Calculus and suffering massive headaches, fevers, and muscle pain at the time. Also, I couldn't move my neck.

Me: I always look to Dooce for my daily dose of pick-me-up, and I was feeling a bit down just now ( with the -two/(sqrt 30) being not equal to -(sqrt 3)/3 )…*grrrr*

Enjoy this for just a moment...

James: Awww Its ok. Things will get better I promise. Anyway I have no idea what kind of rocket science equations your putting in your e-mails, but Ill read the article when I get home tonight.

Me: Rocket Science, yeah...sure. You keep thinking that. I got myself turned around and the answer I got wasn't the one in the book. I figured it out though.

James: Good for you, if you didn't it would have kept me up all night thinking about the answer, was the answer JELLO, cause that's what I got.

Me: Paperclip

James: 42

Me: DAMN YOU DEEP THOUGHT!
What was the question again?

Dan: Apparently the question had something to do with a rocket built out of paper clips and jello. -_-

Me: A rocket made out of 42 paperclips, runs on jello, smells like skunk. That's it guy's, we're ready to make history!

James: Does the Jello need to be magnetized?
Dan: It needs treated with inverse Tachyon pulse emissions.

James: Where the hell are we going to find the crystal to run that kind of power? We should equip it with Airbags too cause this doesn't sound too safe.

Dan: Airbags, Lawl. Learn2seatbelt in my opinion.

Me: Keep your inverse pulses to your own quarters.
No airbags, we use Inertial Dampeners. Of course, with the slightest technical problem they will go offline and we will be thrown across the ship. It's called 'fun.' Seatbelts are also unnecessary, you wimps.

James: Can I at least get cyanide tablet?

Dan: I want some Alka-Seltzer tablets in case I come under attack, so I can pretend to froth at the mouth.

Me: You'd rather die by poison than by rapid decompression? You don't belong in my new spaceship. (The meek shall inherit the Earth, the rest of us are going to the stars in jello-powered rockets.)
Frothing at the mouth is only allowed post-mealtime, when alien bacteria have invaded your lunchmeat. It's more 'fun' when its real.

James: I thought the hull would be made out of Jello I didn't think you were using it as a alternative fuel source. I think we should use bubble gum instead. We should use bean bag chairs for seats and nerf guns as forward torpedoes.

Me: NOooo...we should seal the ship with bubble gum! Have you ever seen used bubble gum? That stuff is solid.

James: I think it depends on what kind of bubble gum we use or maybe we can mix bubble gum and silly putty to make a super material. O.o and we should use plastic bags for helmets.

Me: You'll be the first one to test the new helmet design, very smart. ;) Maybe we can take the super putty gum material and lay it over a lattice of paperclips. Make the whole ship out of it.
Is there some real work I'm supposed to be doing?

James: The new helmet design is flawed, but I will test out the ceramic wrap jump suit. I wonder if we can get it to run on fecal matter?
And to your 2nd question..prob not.

Dan: Real work? Crazy talk like that from our chief engineer and warp core specialist is cause for a little worry. Especially in a ship with no seatlbelts or airbags. The only possible solution to the numerous safety concerns this craft is raising is to install a Radio Frequency Jammer, and a IFF (friend/foe) detector to be prepared for any threat that may arise.

Me: You're talkin' like you ain't talkin' to the Captain of this finely crafted space vessel....
Daniel is now in charge of chewing all the gum for the composite hull. You have one week.
James is responsible for manning the Turbulent Path Sensor (TPS) array. I require hourly reports.
Michael is the Captain's Wench...he shall retrieve me a bottle of the moonshine I've been brewing in the warp coil.
-Dismissed.

James: The sensor array became over stimulated in recent tests and began emitting a white ooze, we are unsure of the effect this will have on the project. We have taken a sample and sent it to the lab for DNA testing, but it will take a week to get the results. As of right now all future tests have been put on hold and there is no ETA for when testing will resume. Needless to say my engineers are baffled by this recent development and need time to figure out the cause.

Me: James isn't allowed to work night shift anymore. Didn't I tell you to keep your 'inverse pulse experiments' to your private time? Watch that console for signs of...I bet that's how the Borg got started.

James: Ok well someone is going to have to pickup the slack, OO and I decided to decorate the inside of the spaceship with the magazines I had before the random emissions.

Me: I think you've been 'picking up the slack' enough for everyone.

James: OO I have been picking up something, but this spaceship will not build itself you know.

Me: Does anyone know where the Advil is? Who's in charge of stocking medical supplies? ZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz............................

James: Captain whats the status of this?...so far I have been fired/denied any requests I have made..let's get this ball rolling shall we. Dan is completely inept and is now eating his part of the project.

Me: Ooooo...NOT GOOD Danny Boy! You're never pooping again
James, none of your lip, mister. You're fired. Also, you're in charge of the medical supplies.
Everything else is being contracted out to Alien Hippo Corp.

James:
You fired me and gave me access to the medical supplies, which I just put on EBAY.

Hi!

HI!

My list of blog readers is sadly very small. Since I keep most of my friends down to those know me in 'real' life, my little space on the internet is to keep up with all of you.

Please subscribe to my bloggy.

Also, my legs itch and I dont know why. If I have angered you, my friends, please lift the curse. Really, I didn't mean to..
