Gmail rocks

So I was just checking my mail for an update from my english teacher (is my research topic approved or what??!!) when I noticed a gmail feature I'd never heard of before. Spreadsheets. Spreadsheets you can share with specific other people on gmail. Way neat. Sounds like a good way to do my checkbook, since hubby and I have a joint account for paying bills and we never use our checkbook register. For years, I have been using Works Spreadsheet or Microsoft Excel for my register because I hate the ones that come with the checkbook. I make too many mistakes, and I love SORTING!!! This year, the whole year, I just didn't do it. Wow. I left for Florida last January and now the year is almost over, wow. Anyway he always ended up never helping with it, never adding his things like when he pays the cable bill or transfers cash to his personal spending account. (We both have one, we both get the same amount each month, don't act like I'm the money-meanie wife.) Maybe this will help. Starting next year of course. Or maybe this November. I dunno.

Topic topic topic is my research topic approved??!?!?!?!?!?

So, this is the topic I sent her:

Should there be more restrictions on who gets fertility treatments and how they are performed, in order to ensure healthy births and promote adoption?

And this was the response:

I don't think it would be ethical to limit such a thing. If they can afford it, (it's very expensive and often doesn't 'take' the first few times) then it should be their choice. And I'm sure women have to meet certain health requirements now before they're approved for treatment. Is there perhaps another spin you could put on it?

So I said:

That's just the thing, in England they are having a big argument over restricting fertility treatments to women who are overweight. They are basically saying they can do it, but it won't be free like it is for 'healthy' people. Critics are saying its the first step in government only allowing those they see fit to reproduce. Eugenics and all that. I could draw from studies on health problems in children whose mothers are obese.

For something that applies more to the US, there are ways to prevent those extreme multiple pregnancies before the egg is even fertilized. Somehow the clinics get better ratings because of the increased number of babies born instead of the number of healthy births, so they don't want to encourage patients to take those precautions.

I think it can work, maybe if I forget about the adoption angle and stick with fertility treatments.

That was on Friday, and her I am at Sunday night and no response. I'm going to take this as a yes, because there is an assignment due tomorrow that depends on finding studies for the topic. I have to work tomorrow, so I have to go ahead with what I've got. I guess its too bad if she doesn't like it.

Adult Survey

The Adult Survey

Water and rent, the only ones I have to remember, everything else is automated.

Here are the words.
I have broken down, and I will buy an iPod. I shall become a Pod Person, and it sickens me. Why am I dooming myself to using a popular piece of technology, when I am so obviously allergic to such mainstream behavior?

'cause I wanna listen to MY music before I go to bed, waaaaa!!!!

Yes, what I really need is a new alarm clock, and what I want is the ability to listen to music as I fall asleep. I dislike having multiple systems for multiple functions, therefore I require a multitasking device to do both. Therefore I will get an iPod alarm clock. Yes yes, a Pod Person I shall be.

Did you get the memo?

Out of alignment you say? Noooo....(incredulously)

So I always knew its bad to run over the curb on those pesky right turns. I know, okay. But its either curbs or puppies, and I'm not entirely heartless.

So its bad, yes, but I didn't know it was $100 worth of bad. So an alignment for my car went from around $80 to about $180. Plus new wipers, which I'm pretty sure I was scammed on. They charged me for two sets because each side was a different side. Yeah, whatever, even the guy who rung up the final bill thought it was a bit off. I was tired, I didn't argue. I should know more about my car so stuff like that doesn't happen. I should also use the mechanic I trust instead of going to Sears, but I knew it would take awhile and I wanted to shop around the mall a bit. On the upside, my car now drives straight without me turning the wheel to the left.

I just finished editing my paper for class, which will be peer reviewed again on Monday. Oh by the way, I won't be in class on Monday so I had to email it to my partners to turn in. Time to run a load of laundry so I can pack for the trip. I hate San Antonio. Please don't make me go again.

Invalid Subject line, you cannot leave the subject blank.

I just finished my 3 page paper for class.

woo. hoo.

I won't be in class next week, because I couldn't beg out of a training class being held out of town.

boo. hoo.

I was signed up for another out-of-town useless thing, that I can't get out of. Yet another week of real class (read: something I might actually need in the future) down the drain.

fuck. duck. fuck.

Time for bed.

Linkey

Well, this is all pretty depressing:

Banishment

But then there's this, watch the video to lift your spirits.

And then there's
this, which I will quote one of many paragraphs:

Its all about me. We still remain a dreadfully segregated nation, and much of the country shields its residents from even a passing familiarity with any alternative American experience to their own, leaving the majority of Americans incapable of comprehending how someone outside their race, sexual orientation, and particularly social class might arrive at a drastically different destination in life than they have. Knowing people who aren't like us is the key to empathy, to caring about the struggles, blockades, and even the most basic circumstances of people who don't share our individual experiences. People sniff at multiculturalism and shrug at the suggestion that international travel is a necessary experience to broaden our own isolationist horizons. We are actively discouraged, by omnipresent reassurances that America is the best country in the world! that we don't need to experience other cultures because they have nothing to offer (and we are actively prevented from world travel by being provided with the shortest vacation times in the Western world). America is the center of the universe for many Americans and often, not even the whole of America, but just their own region, state, town, neighborhood. Best place in the country in the best country in the world. Why leave, even for a day? Incuriosity. Ignorance. Its all about my home, my experience, me.

Wow

Jackalopes are REAL??!!
And Wake Island is real too, but not for long.

I read most of this last night before I went to bed. Thought provoking.

I didn't agree to any of this.

English 1302 Writing Across the Curriculum means Writing RESEARCH PAPERS Across the Curriculum. (fuck) Anyone have a good idea for a research topic? No controversial topics, no politics or religion. Good thing, I hate those topics. But I still have to pick something. (Damn)

Oh, and in case you didn't know. Work still sucks donkey balls. But I am #1 on the CJR waiting list. Some of you know what that means. It feels alot like getting socks for x-mas, I feel like I should donate them to charity.

Curiosity Hurts

Okay, don't ask why. I was trying to figure out why, for crying out loud, is our state motto Show Me? I mean, it just sounds wrong. So, whatever, I look it up. Some senator who was all about common sense and seeing proof of whatever. Unimportant. Then I get really stupid, I look up "Missouri" in myspace music. Why? Don't ask. Just don't...

Hi!

HI!

My list of blog readers is sadly very small. Since I keep most of my friends down to those know me in 'real' life, my little space on the internet is to keep up with all of you.

Please subscribe to my bloggy.

Also, my legs itch and I dont know why. If I have angered you, my friends, please lift the curse. Really, I didn't mean to..

Countdowns

I'm really tired of being forced to be responsible for things I barely understand. I'm especially tired of two-faced individuals. Its all beginning to piss me off...

There were some pyzam.com countdowns here, but the code messed up my page. They just counted down to my separation from the AF.

Oh, I did manage to get into that Writing Across the Curriculum class, so the semester isn't a total loss.

Feasting on Asphalt

Its been a slow day. I didn't wake up until after noon. Hubby went to some gaming party. So I've been surfing, watching tv. So I'm watching Feasting on Asphalt on Food Network. My LOL moment of the day? Alton Brown is auctioning a shirt from the show and says "its autographed, which means you can sell it tonight on ebay to my mom for $1000."

Eh. I'm going back to days starting Monday, which means I really can't take any classes. I could take an english class in the afternoon, but there are only 3 seats left on Friday. It'll probably be full by time I can make it to the registration office. This sucks. I realized earlier this week that I would have 3 months terminal leave from work next year, so I can take a full course load next fall. Small consolation I guess. *sigh*

Photo Agony

What happens when your hobby becomes your nightmare???
All I needed was for this picture to fit in the frames of the box I bought. It isn't working. I still like the images, but the box is pissing me off, and I only have so much x-large photo paper to waste.

I title this one: Look at the Hair!!! Mwahahahah!!!

The Funeral

I keep saying I will post on this, so I guess I should. Its not like I have studying to do or anything.

Since I was very young, I had a perfectly distinct memory of attending a funeral. Many of the details have faded with time. Here is what I remember now. I walked in with my mother, into a room that was almost as skinny as a hallway. Approximately the width of a person's height, because there was just room for the casket at one end. As you walk in, the room is divided in half by the door, casket on the left. On the right-side, the room ended with white posts, strait across. As if people could peek in, without entering the door. The chairs were along each wall, facing inward. Mom had me sit in a chair to the right of the room, while she went to view the deceased. I remember looking at the wallpaper(obviously not the same pattern, but similar idea) bordering the ceiling. I remember the frilly little dress I was wearing, with the ribbon woven through the waist. I remember Mom asking if I wanted to go up and say goodbye.

Several years later, our family piled into the minivan and headed for some town North of St. Joe, to attend the funeral of a man who (to me) was a distant relative. I don't remember who. Someone mentioned offhand that this would be my first funeral. Obviously they had forgotten that I attended the one so long ago?? I insisted. My mother was certain. I described every detail. Do you remember Mom?? You finish the story.

Of course, maybe she was just screwing with me. She's like that sometimes.

***BORING UPDATE***
Well, Mom is no fun. She's gonna pretend she never said that that was a perfect description of a funeral SHE attended when SHE was little BEFORE I was born. That's what she said in the van that day. But now? No fun. Maybe she's just pissy because I posted those pictures of HER HAIR the other day.

The Link Collector

I took most of the week off to study for finals. I've felt like crap all weekend. I had a little wine on Saturday, which probably didn't help things. I felt better for a few hours though. I might make an appointment tomorrow. Maybe. Probably not. Oddly, right now is the best I've felt in a few weeks. I know I'm not better, but its still pretty good.

We saw two movies on Saturday too. Talladega Nights, and Descent. I had low hopes for Talladega Nights, and high hopes for Descent. I was pleasantly entertained, for the most part, on TN. Descent was disappointing. Predictable: I knew who had to survive, who would die, from the first 10 minutes. Over-gory: not that I'm opposed, but gory doesn't make a movie good. Also, most of the screen was black/dark for most of the movie.

Next time I'm going to watch the first 20 minutes of a movie, and then write what I think will happen, and have everyone confirm it when its over.

Are you an only child?
Yes and No, long story.

Whats your stand on hunting?
It shouldn't be done just so you can stuff it and mount it in your den. Eat what you kill or don't kill it. I completely agree with this Amanda person.

Do you like your handwriting?
Nope, I can barely read it myself.

What are you allergic to?
Percocet and raw tuna. You do NOT want to be in the same bathroom as me after a meal with raw tuna.

Where does the other sock end up?
Behind the dryer. HOW DOES IT GET THERE!!???

What time is it?
Quit asking me that.

Are you afraid of the dark?
Did we just watch a scary movie? If so, yes, otherwise the darkness is a refuge.

Can you crack your neck?
Yes, and also my tailbone and pretty much everything else, its not going to be good when I'm old.

Have you ever ridden in an ambulance?
no, thank goodness

Are you a heavy sleeper?
No :( but dont you dare wake me up if you want your face to stay like it is!

Are you Psychic?
No, but sometimes I think about how cool it would be if all the women of the world woke up one day and were psychic, and all the men were empaths. That would probably make a really good book.

Do you play any instruments?
The flute, and I once tried the oboe, but I'm not that good at either.

Can you do the moonwalk?
No, but I'd like to give it a try, on the real thing of course.

Do you make a lot of mistakes?
Dude, I am such a klutz.

Do you wear nail polish?
Yes, but then I let it chip until it looks terrible.

Whats the most annoying tv commercial?
Dude! The BK King commercials, SOO STUUUPIIIIIIIIDDDD!!!!

Do you like your life?
Yes, so far. But there are things I feel I have to do to die happy, and those things are out of reach at the moment.

Do you kiss on the first date?
No, I don't think I ever did.

Who do you want to kiss?
The stars.

Do you like to have your neck kissed?
Well duh!

Do you want a baby?
Yeah, but lets not talk about it. Because not talking about it is easier than living a real life.

You believe in divorce?
Well it happens all the time, so it must exist, what a dumb question. Seriously though, it depends on what your relationship has become whether to try and save it or start fresh.

Tell me can spare some..

Ok, I got the lyrics a little wrong, so check out the difference, but I'm not going to change them here. I went out to the band's page and wow! Ardency Rue and Ardency Rue Site Lyrics

its no wonder, the things i did
the things you said, were running through my head

So far away, where have you been?
who have you told, and what did they say?

for rare occasions i have seen your face
i am blown away to the time and place
when i held you close and you touched my hand
and i could take that place in time

if i told the truth?

would you take a chance?

its no wonder the things you did
things i said were running through your head

rare occasions when i see your face
i am blown away to the time and place
when i held you close and you touched my hand
and i could take that place in time

baby i just need a little love
well tell me can you say so
baby i just need a little love

rare occasions when i see your face
i am blown away to the time and place
when i held you close and you touched my hand
and i could take that place in time

i could take that

baby i just need a little love
can you say so
lemme hear you say so

the best i can tell on the lyrics to my profile song, which i keep playing over and over and over and overand over and over and overand over and over and overand over and over and overand over and over and over baby i jus t need a little love...lemme hear you say so...

Book Quote

"I said-" Orca Cruz began.
He crunched his fingers down on the eye, shattering it. Something crome-yellow emerged in smoky wisps. A moment later Cruz felt the nerve agent infiltrate her lungs.
No one had to tell her it would be fatal.

Dude, guy gouged out his own eye and it was full of nerve agent

Slither? Eh, no.

Robert (an uber-fan of my glorious blogs) was asking if I have, or will be, watching the new movie Slither. I try to stay away from just those sorts of films. Which one was it where the bloody things spewed out of people's butts? I swear people were crap-birthing these nasty aliens. Something about dream catchers I think. Michael remembers. Only this Slither thing looks like it really wants to be a B-Movie.

I'm still hanging out in Florida for a couple more months. I can't wait to get back to the hubby in TX. Ugh! I can't believe I want to go back to Texass.

I should really be asleep about now, in preparation for a long day walking around the Kennedy Space Center tomorrow. I'm kinda excited again, we'll see. I've spent my entire day today reading Absolution Gap, and I've only got...lets see...87 pages to go. It's been ages since it has taken me this long to read a book. I started it in January I think. I guess its just a point of pride for me to finish it before I go to bed tonight. I used to read entire 800 page novels in a day, often starting at 8am and finishing at 4am....which in my reckoning is a day since its less than 24 hours, so piss off :P

I am sitting rather awkwardly with my legs crossed and my laptop on my lap. Where else? Anyway my left foot is asleep, and I'm dreading the period of waking-up that follows. TTYL.

OK, there goes the foot....OWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW

Grumpy

Ok, because of the coffee I didn't sleep until at least 230 this morning. I was tired and bitchy all day. Get over it. Then we were released from work early, at like 3pm. So I came back to the apartment and set my alarm for 5pm and took a nice nap. Now I have that fuzzy numb feeling from sleeping in the daytime for only a few hours. My coworker's birthday is tonight and we are all going to the Cheesecake Factory for dinner.

Since I'm waiting for it to be time for dinner, I guess I should relay my ups and downs today. Well, maybe just the downs because its kinda hard to type. In fact it's really hard to type without my right index finger, since I was taught to type correctly using home row and all that junk. I was setting down several large Dell desktops into the little electric vehicle we use for moving stuff like that. As I sat one down, I let it into a controlled slip for the last couple inches. A thin metal thingy in the back sliced a nice clean cut into my finger. Don't get me wrong, I can still type faster than most people I know :P

Lately I have had minor injuries nearly every day at work. This sucks. Two days ago the wire cart scraped my wrist just below my thumb on my right hand, so I have two bandaids on one hand. Last week, a laptop drive bay sliced clean into my left thumb just under the nail. I trip over everything, bump into things all the time, and have to prop computers up onto my thigh while picking them up. So I have bruises everywhere and my coworkers are generally sick of me.

Gah, but I'm sick of them today anyway. The one thing I want to do while stuck in Florida is visit Kennedy Space Center again. So I asked a couple people and they sounded really interested. It ended up pretty much everyone is invited, which is really cool because I don't want to go by myself. But then there's this one girl who completely takes control of it all and insists we have to go this weekend, starts hassleing everyone to agree with her even though half want to go next weekend. Then a couple people's feelings get hurt because they are basically being left out since they can't go and really want to. So finally I said I would go both weekends if they want, because I'm pretty sure I won't see everything in a single visit. It all just made me not even want to go because she was making it not fun anymore. She has to make everything a confrontation and have it all her way, she took over my fucking trip and now I don't want to go.

It doesn't help that I got 1 1/2 hours of sleep last night.

I am now extremely hungry and tired at the same time. Is it dinnertime yet?

Once Again, Fat and Happy

MMMMm coookies.

So, one of the people I work with is having her birthday tomorrow and I decided to bake the cookies she's been asking for. I made classic peanut butter criss-crosses. Except, and you may know this about me already, I did not exactly follow the recipe. I've developed an obsession lately for cooking with honey instead of granulated sugar. It's kinda working out. I have to add more flour because the honey makes the batter a bit too runny, but after that they turned out great.

I work with this other girl who hasn't ever baked cookies before, so she came over to help out and hang out. And she also brought her little chihuahua dog. Very cute, for a dog anyway. ;)

My roomate won't stop talking to me...I don't care...please stop...

I'm drinking coffee before bed, I'm never going to sleep tonight.

Another Workout Video I Hate

This is me feeling sorry for myself, and slightly pissed at myself, and generally worthless.

Ugh, workout videos.

I watched this one before trying it, and it seemed soooo easy. I have no coordination. I quit at the nine-minute mark in the video, but I think I got the full 15 minute workout. I replayed the warm up twice, the second section once, and then I started all over again because I was still tripping over myself. I finally gave up when I could barely restrain myself from screaming at the top of my lungs. It seemed so much easier than the other one yesterday, but its not. Maybe it was that since I had watched this one and knew what was coming up, I felt like I should at least be able to do it without falling over.

This is why I don't play sports. I am uncoordinated, and I hate feeling like a piece of turd even in the privacy of my own room. I recall throwing a hockey stick across the gym in the 4th grade. Klutzes with low self-esteem should not be made to play sports. Ever. If you want your face to still look like that afterwards.

Ugh, sports people.

I'm going to sit my fat self on the couch and eat a piece of cheesecake.

Old Photo

I just wanted to share this photo. I came across it while trying to find something to use my new software on. This one isn't edited:

Free Image Hosting at www.ImageShack.us

I think its funny because there is spray-snow on the window, a Halloween potholder on the wall, and I think my cousin Ben and I are decorating Easter Eggs. **Mom says they're X-mas candy. Uh huh, whatever.

So yeah that sucked...

I'm trying to stay in shape...or get in shape...

I have my problem areas, thick arms, big belly, thick thighs...ok I basically am a problem area.

So I bought a couple workout videos, and did one for arms today. Why? Because I want some ageless bimbo with no fat on her body to tell me 'you can do it'. Because I want to pout and wine for the entire thing because she refers to her arms as 'front' and 'rear' instead of RIGHT AND LEFT YOU FUCKING WHORE!

Deep breath now...and streach......bring it down now...good job.

My arms hurt.

Rose

I was at the gas station this morning getting my coffee and breakfast, and there was a guy there switching out the fresh flowers for the day. He gave me one! He said that it was old from yesterday so they can't sell them.

It's so pretty, a white rose airbrushed with purple and sparkles.

*I used to blog from work. I would also go to that gas station almost every morning for coffe and a breakfast biscuit. I had to be there before 0600. Those were NOT the days...

Best. Birthday. Ever.

I had a really awesome birthday today. Everyone was so nice at work, haha everyone kept telling me "don't do that, its your birthday" "dont sweep the floor on your birthday" and "why are you even here?" hehehe. I got hugs. Michael called me at work. He remembered!!! So proud of my sweet boy.

I got about 6 people to have dinner with me at PF Chang's, but there was a 1 1/2 hour wait, so we tried this Mitchell's Seafood and Bar or something. All I know is it was just a neat experience. We sat in the lounge and I saw there was a piano, how cool. Then someone started playing it!!! How cool is that??!!! I had my birthday dinner to piano music! Then there was the food....ahh the nummy food. Lobster Bisque. Shrimp. And Volcano Java Jive, with candles. And did I mention the piano? There was a guy playing piano. He played the song from the old Willie Wonka movie, "In a world of pure imagination...." Chocolate Martini. And a PIANO!

Amy should be an detective. She saw the pic on my background and started asking questions like...would you ever print it and frame it? Oh yeah, what size do you think? I think silver frame would go nice, don't you think? Hahaha she got me a nice silver frame for my picture. Someone else paid for my dinner, which had to be alot since I'm about to burst at the seams. How sweet are these people?

We decided to skip the movie, since we are all tired and full and have to work tomorrow. Goodnight all. And thank you all my myspace friends who wished my a happy birthday. And thank you Mommy for being my Mommy.

~Sweet Dreams~

VAIO pt2

Do I have nothing better to do at 5am? Probably not. Note: My alarm usually goes off at 4am. Why am I still awake? NEW COMPUTER

Ok, so I switched over to gmail, so if you didn't get a message from me I don't like you anymore. Kidding. I'm not going to broadcast my email address here, so if you really didnt get a message from me then you'll have to guess what my new address on gmail is , not kidding.

Mmmmm the specs on my new computer:

VAIO FS Series
Intel Centrino Mobile Technology 1.73Ghz
Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition
15.4" Wide WXGA 1280x800 display
DVD R Double Layer with DVDRW2
523MB RAM and 100GB4 hard drive
3 USB, and one of those flash memory things for the camera! (the technical term of course)
Integrated Wireless (and faster!)

Might not seem all that great to you, but I was mucking along with this for the last 3 1/2 years:

Compaq Presario 900 PP2140
AMD Athalon 1.3Ghz
Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition
14.1 Inch Display, AND DARK DARK DARK
DVD/CD Player
523MB RAM (because I upgraded about 2 years ago)
80GB Hard Drive
2USB, Floppy (I'm gonna miss that)

I havn't reinstalled any of my old software, or the new Photo Impact Pro, which I also bought today. I really need Firefox back before I hurt someone at Microsoft. I might do that anyway if I don't get rid of all this default 'helpful' crap on the new system. Also, I am apparently crippled without my Favorites, and I forgot to move them over. OMFG I am my own annoying END USER! Save me from myself!

c'mon I just need my link to imageshack..

The living plastic and the moving models was a distinct taste of strange British comedy. I liked the show anyway, and I really liked the second one. It has more an air of seriousness than I expected, I could totally follow the emotional depth of the characters and their love for science and understanding of the reality of the universe and I could go on and on but I wont. Suffice to say I can relate to Rose and the Dr alot, and they have real chemistry.

I like that its not a Rosy-eyed, everything is fine in the end, kind of show. The Tree sacrificed herself for the ship and burnt to death, and it wasn't at a convenient time just as he got to the switch, it was before and it made the Doctor dig deep into himself to finish the job. The 'last living human' was a fake and a bitch, and in the end she shriveled up and died. The Dr. didn't show any mercy or regret for that.

The FX were a little off at times and really sharp at other times. For example the vat of hot plastic thing was totally off, but the little robotic spiders were dead on and really cool. It is just the first two episodes, so like other shows I think the FX will get better as we go along. I mean, go look at the first season of SG1 and compare it to season 2 or 3, big difference!

Sorry for the repost, I like to keep this kind of thing.

Here I am, with my new laptop. The sleek, speedy, not-broken Sony VAIO. Now I have to go to work. More later. Yes Mom and Jesse, you can have the old laptop as soon as I prep it for you and get my stuff off it. Some duct tape may be required.

Reviving a dead mouse.

Some days I can't stand mice. Not the squeaky ones that leave droppings everywhere, but the round ones with buttons.
There are these devices for people who use more than one computer and only one Keyboard Monitor(Video) and Mouse. It's called a KVM Switch. It is the root of all my misery on a daily basis.

It supports PS2 mice and keyboards, which tend to crap out and stop working if they are unplugged or the power spikes or if you happened to look at your computer funny. This should be easy to fix, just restart your system and the mouse and/or keyboard should start working again. A monkey could do my job.

But no, restarting won't work most of the time, because the KVM does not have its own power source, it draws power from the keyboard's connection to the computer. Weird? Yes. So even when you shut down one computer the other ones connected to the KVM will still provide it with power. EVERYTHING MUST BE OFF SO THERE IS NO RESIDUAL POWER IN THE ENTIRE SYSTEM OF DEVICES. Every single tech in my office has their own rituals for reviving a dead mouse.

Fine! So everything is off, you must then unplug the mice and keyboards from the KVM and the computers, all of them, no cheating it wont work. Then wait two minutes. Bite the head off a live chicken and dribble the blood to bless the keyboard. The user's won't notice it amongst the accumulated ketchup drippings. A goat would work but there's too much blood.

Plug in the connection to the first computer, the one in the A position. Then to the box. Now apply power and dash a bit of salt over the mouse. If all goes well, the first computer's mouse and keyboard will come to life. Do the other computers just the same way in sequence. I promise it will work.

Unless you are connecting a laptop (or two!) up together. Yay! Because laptops have batteries that prevent you from removing all residual power from the box. Fuckin YAY! Sooo....before you wait two minutes you have to unplug the battery from the computer. That didn't work? Well did you hold down the grey button for 15 seconds and urinate on the power supply? I told you....gah! Okay well just remove the battery completely and power up without it. If that doesn't work, lets just replace the damn mouse.

I swear, a monkey could do my job.

As Slippery as My Mind is

Dammit, I typed an email and decided to paste it into my blog instead. Then when I get here IT WONT PASTE!!! Dammit. Now I've got to do it from memory. Someone find me some extra memory dammit!

Ahem. I spent the day watching reruns of Old BSG, because I had this wonderful day off. Did you know they used Frak in the original? I could've sworn it was invented for the new show. But otherwise the oldie is just a steaming pile of dren.

I've been invited to gmail 3 times now, and I havn't yet because do you have any idea how many email accounts and admin passwords and pin numbers and usernames and stuff I have to remember??!! I would have to tell all my contacts my new account, and try to bring over my contacts list and save my important emails and figure out which ones are important and what if OMG my bank account and my utilities are all tied to my yahoo. There's no way.

But then...I was thinking. Outch. Er.
I think google and myspace could totally kick ass with a deal to access your gmail via myspace. Then there would be me on the outside going..but but...I coulda been cool tooo!!! WTF people?! So maybe I will, but I'll only make it available to my pals on myspace. But can I change the email account my myspace is tied to? Grrr...

There was alot more, and I assure you all it was quite fascinating.
In my head.

I'm Human After All

The four of us ladies in the office went to the mall today after work. I had such a blast! I spent most of my $200. I actually bought 6 shirts, and they are so cute. One at Lane Bryant (thanks manders!) and the others at another very awesome store. I'm wearing one shirt now, a button up red with white pinstripes (I think that's what they're called), fitted very nicely and doesn't make my big belly obvious. Also bought a pair of shoes at Payless and a perfume at Victoria's Secret. It smells ssoooo yummy and fruity without killing my nasal passages. Oh yeah, I also bought the Serenity soundtrack. Ohh ohh must insert cd into computer...brb...k. Ahhhh.....

Did you hear me!? I had a blast, buying clothes, spending money. I can't stand perfumes, and I bought a perfume. Holy shit I am a real person after all. And the mall is sickeningly close to my apartment. It's all over now.

Oh, and my laptop is breaking, the cracks on the hinges are enormous. I may have to spend my bonus pay early. So if you don't hear from me all the sudden, or Michael if the bank account suddenly loses $1200...you know what's going on.

And 12 hour shifts are over for now, thank goodness. AND I have tomorrow and Monday off, since I had to work this morning. I picture laziness in my future.

Bellyaching

Alcohol gives me heartburn. I had 4 beers on Friday. I did not get heartburn on Friday.

Today I had orange juice. Today it hurts to breathe. Today everything tastes like orange juice. All I wanted was a glass of orange juice. Now I do not want to ever see orange juice again.

Honestly though, everything gives me heartburn.

I saw low-acid orange juice at the store last week, and the person with me couldn't understand why I was so excited. This week I will buy low-acid orange juice.

I bet it will give me heartburn.

The End.

*I know this is a tad Emo of me, but here it is nonetheless.

I always knew
The hollow beat, forced out and croaking
I was never wrong.

Repeat, pretend
Not from my lips, but it chokes me
Fill your part

Recycle the false
The pit swallows whole my gut
Pukes up the truth

And I always know.

Miles Away

Miles Away
I want you and you are not here. I pause
in this garden, breathing the colour thought is
before language into still air. Even your name
is a pale ghost and, though I exhale it again
and again, it will not stay with me. Tonight
I make you up, imagine you, your movements clearer
than the words I have you say you said before.

Wherever you are now, inside my head you fix me
with a look, standing here whilst cool late light
dissolves into the earth. I have got your mouth wrong,
but still it smiles. I hold you closer, miles away,
inventing love, until the calls of nightjars
interrupt and turn what was to come, was certain,
into memory. The stars are filming us for no one.

The pics above are from a show I was watching today on Nature called Land of the Falling Lakes. I don't think I have seen anything as beautiful, stunning, and peaceful as that place in my entire life. It's like an enchanted forest. I want to go there and hide.

What is this!?!?!? What have I done?!!!!

I decided to get ‘experimental’ with food today, and in a way that probably makes my hubby glad he’s not here. He hates it when I cook without a recipe, and call it ‘experimenting.’

So anyway, I decided to see what happens when you combine these yummy fresh strawberry, sliced up, with some honey, and apply some heat. The resulting hot sweet mess was very tasty, and had a slightly gelatin-like thing going on. So then I didn’t know what to do with it. I could have put it on top of some ice cream or make a strawberry shortcake, but I had the stuff for neither. So I got gutsy and threw in some quick oats and water, and cooked for a bit longer. Then I rolled the partially cooled mixture into some cling wrap. Its setting in my fridge right now, looking like a giant red tootsie-roll. Is there a name for this sweet strawberry concoction I have created?

Witless Computer Tech, Me.

I'm such a silly witless computer tech when it comes to home computing. If it's not work computers I just generally don't think too hard about it. So when I first got here I plugged in to see if there was a free/cheap connection, with no luck. No way I'm spending $40/month on internet. Why did I not plug in my wireless card? Because I'm not at home and I'm not in a hotel, and that's where I've ever used wireless. Also, because I'm a dork.

Yeah, so my roomie was complaining about not getting good signals in here. I thought she was talking just about cell reception, and then it dawned on me....WIRELESS YOU COMPUTER DORK! So yeah I'm mooching off nearby connections hahahah.

Long story short (ok, long story long), my roomie's standards are way too high, because for me 5.5mbps is good enough for posting on myspace. Yay Internet!

Sadly you won't be hearing from me any more often than before this, as I am being worked to death on 14 hour shifts for the next few weeks. I should be asleep right now, since I have to wake up in like 5 hours to get ready for work. I got home today and my boots where the only thing holding my feet together.

Long Bridges Are Bad

You would think I would know better than to eat dinner at the Chinese buffet. It made me feel all lousy about eating too much food that wasn't really good for me, and now I'm starving again.

Also, today, there was the longest damn bridge ever. I thought it would never end and I was sooo scared. I hate bridges, and I hate driving.
I thought I was gonna go flying off the side into the scary water! Eeek!

This hotel is nicer than the last one. It's got the same shower curtain rod, that curves out all neat. Now I want one. And the coffeemaker isn't in the bathroom. I get more channels. I hope the one tomorrow has Sci-fi, so I can catch SG1 and BSG.

A Bit Nutty

OK, I have a... i dunno what its called. Aversion? Anyway I cannot stand food being anywhere near the bathroom, or food and bathroom stuff being close together (like in a grocery bag).

So if a hotel room doesn't have a kitchenette, they usually put the coffeemaker on the bathroom counter. Then I come in, clean it, and move it to the nightstand, because that's just nasty. Think Austin Powers *a bit nutty*. Well this hotel has attached the power cable to the counter, so I can't move it. So no coffee for me.

Oh, and Letterman nailed Bill O'Reily on his show last night. It's been on the news all afternoon. Just too damn good to miss.

So sad, so true

Never start a road trip in the dark, to a place you've never been.
I got lost bad, and I really hadn't left town yet. Let's not dwell on that little tidbit. I'm driving around, and I'm lost because I can't see any of the damn signs. OK, I don't drive much, and hardly ever in the dark. I forgot to turn on the high-beams. This point didn't dawn on me until the sky was brightening with sunrise. Let's not dwell there either.

Dawn: So my first thought was 'Ohh look, pretty sunrise!' I then realized I would be driving East in the morning for the next 3 days. My next full thought was "My sunglasses are in Michael's car." Well shit. I've never been more grateful of cloud cover.

Eh, okay, so you know I'm not much of a driver. My arms hurt. I spent most of the morning with a death grip on my steering wheel. Yes I know this isn't the best way to drive, but mortal fear does that.

Oh damn! I got my directions from randmcnally.com, and somehow it showed 5.8 (short little jaunt) miles for one part, and it was really about 50 (five-zero, fifty, half a hundred) So I thought I was crazy lost around Austin, but I just kept going. TX-71E was my guiding light. I was so frustrated. I could have ended up anywhere.

I had the Firefly soundtrack playing in the background, because I focus better with songs that have no words. I forgot about all the SUDDEN LOUD SOUNDS and I was trying to find a turn. Scared the piddle outta me. Oh, and when I'm lost, the mournful music doesn't really help my outlook.

But anyways, I made it through today and plan on some rest...IF I manage to not spend all night online....yeah right.

OH hey also, my friend Sarah P., who I haven't talked to in years emailed me today. HI SARAH!

AND I love my Michael Jones, and I misses him so muches.

New Year 2006

Original: December 31, 2005 - Saturday
We have absolutely nothing to do for tonight.
This New Year's Eve is gonna suck.
I'm pretty boring.

To Which Chloe Commented:
We have no plans yet either, except to drink a bottle of wine (Fat Bastard Shiraz) that was sent by Craig's brother. I think we will go to a bar of some sort. Maybe a gay bar, although I hesitate, because Craig's so damn pretty that I'll be fighting middle-aged queens off all night. In any event, even if we stay in, I'm dressing up to the 9's, and that's what I suggest to you. Look fabulous. That's the best way to begin the New Year, no matter where you are!

These seemed to go together:
Original: December 31, 2005 - Saturday

I would dress up like Chloe suggested but, eh, Michael wouldn't play along and I'm in a pretty grumpy mood at the moment. We just spent some time driving around this crappy town looking for something to do. We think everyone is either at Graham's Central Station (never ever stooping that low) or at private parties. So we ate at IHOP, chilled out at Hastings for a bit (bought the Firefly soundtrack), picked up some booooozzzzeee, and now we're home watching the ball drop on tv in about an hour.
Considering all the crap that happened this year, and how utterly worthless the year has been as far as progressing in anything that matters to me or doing anything fun, I'm just ready for it all to be over and start anew. Beyond selfishness, the rest of the world has had a pretty (can I say crap again? well I'm gonna) crappy time of it too. If I could erase this year I would.

So, my resolution for the year? Do something I can care about, that holds some damn meaning for me, and have a damn life for once.

Oh, the Barnaked Ladies are on CNN singing "It's all been done" I love that song, it feels so right.

Kodak Moments

Original: December 15, 2005 - Thursday
I have only 1 photo of myself as a baby because of shipping and storage problems during moves. I have just that one photo as evidence I ever was under 3 years old. I mourn the memories my family lost.

There is only one TV commercial that has ever made me flat-out cry. Kodak's new ones:

"Shh, can you hear them? The pictures are talking, but you have to be quiet.
What are they saying?
They're saying keep me.
The pictures are saying keep me?
Protect me. Share me.
Share me?
Keep me...protect me...share me...and I will live forever."
And then the old man is looking at an old picture of a young woman, his long-lost wife or mother.

I'm tearing up just remembering it.

Math Update

I probably failed Pre-Cal today.
The finals were scheduled for tomorrow at 10am, but today at 9am my boss told me I had to reschedule and take it today! So, with all of my hardcore 'studying' last night, I bumbled through the test at 1130. Wow, there was alot of white space on that paper.

No more please :(

Original: December 11, 2005 - Sunday
I am so damn annoyed with myself. I'm studying, or was. I got aggravated and bored. I hate math. I'm doing review problems for the first chapter, and there are so many I just can't figure out on my own. I have to rummage through my notes to remember some damn rule or trick or whatever. There's no way I'm doing well on this final. I got a 91% test 1, 76% test 2, and 74% test 3. Luckily, the grading scale is nice, the best scores count for the most percent of the final grade. Same with homework, he throws out the bottom 20%; But the final is a full 30% of the grade, and I DON'T WANT TO STUDY ANYMORE!

And then I just realized, SHIT! I have to bake cookies for tomorrow's office holiday party! AND do laundry so I don't show up to work... well.. nude or something.

I got all distracted today. I swore I would devote the whole day to study, then I let Michael take me to a movie. (Narnia=Awesome!) But first we stopped by Target to buy decorations for the tree and a gift for the party tomorrow. Then to Hastings for some coffee, the post-movie ritual. Then I got home and decorated the tree, then I got all flustered looking for my Stocking, which I never found. But searching I found all kinds of stuff I never unpacked since HS graduation. CRAP CRAP CRAP outta time for everything because I waste so much time on little stuff and being lazy. CRAP!

Stolen Idea, Fun With Babelfish

Firefly quotes translated from English to Chinese and back, just to see what comes out. I'm busy not studying for my finals. Don't judge me!

Original: Goin' on a year now I ain't had nothin' 'twixt my nethers weren't run on batteries.
Chinese to English: Continues year me now any not to run between mine leg in the battery.

O:
Kaylee: Wash, tell me I'm pretty.
Wash: Were I unwed, I'd take you in a manly fashion.
C-E:
Kaylee: Washes, tells me me is pretty.
Wash: Is I unmarried, I can have your man spirit the fashion.

O:
They'll rape us till were dead, eat our flesh, and sew our skin into there clothing. And if were very very lucky they'll do it in just that order.
C-E:
They will rape us until will be die, will eat our flesh and blood, with will suture our skin to enter there to put on the clothes. And if will be extremely extremely lucky they makes it in that order.

O:
Mal: Well look at this. 'Pears we got here just in the nick of time. What does that make us?
Zoƫ: Big damn heroes, sir.
Mal: Ain't we just.

C-E:
Mal: Good look in this. Appeared us is precisely time here obtained the justice. That is any us.
Zoe: Big hero, gentleman.
Mal: Is not we.

Hot Water Update

The plumbers came to fix it, and it never made the sound for them. They cleaned the elements and flushed the tank, and the noise is still gone, so I'm happy. I think there was something blocking the pressure valve, and it cleared itself when i cranked up the hot water in the shower this morning, because that's when it stopped. Figures. I didn't have to pay for it though, since we called the landlord-approved plumber.

The pilot on the furnace went out again yesterday too. I got Mom to come over and re-light it for me, 'cause I'm a chicken about gas. On the way over, I saw my car was leaking something. Since I had taken my car to the shop last week, the brakes had started getting soft. So I figured it was my brake fluid leaking out, which my mechanical Mommy confirmed. Bought some on the way back, but they were real bad by then, so I'm driving Michael's car tomorrow and dropping mine off at a different auto shop after work. I think the other shop broke my brake line on purpose so I'd go back to have it fixed. Ass monkeys.

My line is a dot...

My line is a dot...and the Turkey was on my homework.

Jesse will get it.

Festivus for the Rest of Us!

Original: December 7, 2005 - Wednesday

This is the first year I've ever had to really decide what to do about the holidays, and I've been married to a Christmas-loving atheist for nearly 3 years. Well, sometimes he believes HE is god, but not the point.

I like the feeling of the season and the pretty, wintery, or funny decorations, but of course not the underlying 'theme'. I decided it was bull-dookey to not celebrate the season just because Christians ruined it to convert people. Total bull-poopy. So I bought a 3 foot tall live tree at Wal-Mart and it's sitting in the corner of the room with one ornament on it. It's not the traditional triangle shaped tree, but it is an evergreen and the needles are soft and pretty. It will still look nice as a houseplant all year long, if it lives. I need more decorations.

Yeah, my outdoor plants are lookin pretty sickly now. We had frost two days in a row this week, and I didn't bring them in until yesterday.

Hot Water

Original: December 5, 2005 - Monday
My water heater is making this awful humming/buzzing noise. For about five minutes every half hour or so. Really annoying, but we called a repairman who said it wasn't going to blow up. That made me feel better. Sounds like a pressure cooker. He will be here later this week to fix it.

Also, I have to make a conscious effort to not call it a Hot Water Heater. Dumbdumbdumb.

You see her confidence is tragic, but her intuition magic, and the shape of her body , unusual

Even though I was only in my math class about 1/4 of the time since the last test, due to scheduling problems, I think I did fairly well on this one. You know what I can never remember how to do? Those problems where you have a percentage of one thing, and percentage of another, and then you gotta figure out how to make so many pounds of a certain percentage mixture. Skipped that one entirely. Don't try to use percent signs in your bloggy, screws things up.
Still have to do the homework due tomorrow, which I had a week to do. Also, I didn't study for the test. Yup, flyin' by the seat of my pants at this point. At least I'm not starting this homework at like 10pm. I get really confused trying to do calculus at midnight. And pissy, really pissy. Sing with me "She only does cal-cu-lus at midnight, when the moment is not right, and the timing is quite un-u-sual..." lalalala.

Actually, I like that song.

Dancing away, buhbyenow.

Purple Bruises

Ugh@! I hurt so much, all over. I've been in AOR training all week, and yesterday I don't think I had enough water or something because I got a huge cramp in my calf afterwards. I've never had a leg cramp up so bad that it hurt to walk afterwards. Then today training lasted until 7pm, low crawling, jumping in and out of trucks with loads of gear on, diving into the ground with the M16, rolling, getting up again with all that gear on, and running and firing and oh I hurt so much.

Here in West Texas there are so many spikey spiney pokey plants, and I have so many little splinters of them in my hands and legs. I went to push myself off the ground and ended up with a handful of spurs.

My helmet doesn't fit quite right, and I couldn't see to fire.

The bruises on my knees are purple and green and brown.

I still have dirt in the corners of my eyes.

Your Opinions?

Do you guys think I should cut my hair? Its so long and pretty now, but I never do anything with it. It just sits in a big bun all day until I go home, or until the weekend. Then its always in the way, and I shed like crazy. You have no idea the places we have found stray hairs.

But the last time I chopped my hair... well, some of you remember that. Me no likey the Winona Ryder lookalike thing. And long hair is so much easier to manage than short hair, when I wake up in a rush. Just tuck it all away and its pretty much ok. I just have no idea how to make short hair look nice anyway. Then there's mid-length hair....ugh. Maybe I've just been getting the wrong haircuts for my face? I have no idea.

If I cut it, I would want to get some pictures taken first. I want to get pictures taken anyway. I've been married nearly 3 years, and I don't have any formal pictures with Michael. We were talking about going to JCPenny last weekend, but I got caught up in stuff and forgot. Now my car is acting weird and I'm taking it to be looked at tomorrow. Hopefully it can make it until then, so I can get to and from work and also make it to the auto shop. So I don't know how much that's going to cost.
