Finely Crafted Space Vessel

Some insight into the world of the nerd. Actually, I was just posting this email string for my own entertainment, but feel free to enjoy it. I was taking Pre-Calculus and suffering massive headaches, fevers, and muscle pain at the time. Also, I couldn't move my neck.

Me: I always look to Dooce for my daily dose of pick-me-up, and I was feeling a bit down just now ( with the -two/(sqrt 30) being not equal to -(sqrt 3)/3 )…*grrrr*

Enjoy this for just a moment...

James: Awww Its ok. Things will get better I promise. Anyway I have no idea what kind of rocket science equations your putting in your e-mails, but Ill read the article when I get home tonight.

Me: Rocket Science, yeah...sure. You keep thinking that. I got myself turned around and the answer I got wasn't the one in the book. I figured it out though.

James: Good for you, if you didn't it would have kept me up all night thinking about the answer, was the answer JELLO, cause that's what I got.

Me: Paperclip

James: 42

Me: DAMN YOU DEEP THOUGHT!
What was the question again?

Dan: Apparently the question had something to do with a rocket built out of paper clips and jello. -_-

Me: A rocket made out of 42 paperclips, runs on jello, smells like skunk. That's it guy's, we're ready to make history!

James: Does the Jello need to be magnetized?
Dan: It needs treated with inverse Tachyon pulse emissions.

James: Where the hell are we going to find the crystal to run that kind of power? We should equip it with Airbags too cause this doesn't sound too safe.

Dan: Airbags, Lawl. Learn2seatbelt in my opinion.

Me: Keep your inverse pulses to your own quarters.
No airbags, we use Inertial Dampeners. Of course, with the slightest technical problem they will go offline and we will be thrown across the ship. It's called 'fun.' Seatbelts are also unnecessary, you wimps.

James: Can I at least get cyanide tablet?

Dan: I want some Alka-Seltzer tablets in case I come under attack, so I can pretend to froth at the mouth.

Me: You'd rather die by poison than by rapid decompression? You don't belong in my new spaceship. (The meek shall inherit the Earth, the rest of us are going to the stars in jello-powered rockets.)
Frothing at the mouth is only allowed post-mealtime, when alien bacteria have invaded your lunchmeat. It's more 'fun' when its real.

James: I thought the hull would be made out of Jello I didn't think you were using it as a alternative fuel source. I think we should use bubble gum instead. We should use bean bag chairs for seats and nerf guns as forward torpedoes.

Me: NOooo...we should seal the ship with bubble gum! Have you ever seen used bubble gum? That stuff is solid.

James: I think it depends on what kind of bubble gum we use or maybe we can mix bubble gum and silly putty to make a super material. O.o and we should use plastic bags for helmets.

Me: You'll be the first one to test the new helmet design, very smart. ;) Maybe we can take the super putty gum material and lay it over a lattice of paperclips. Make the whole ship out of it.
Is there some real work I'm supposed to be doing?

James: The new helmet design is flawed, but I will test out the ceramic wrap jump suit. I wonder if we can get it to run on fecal matter?
And to your 2nd question..prob not.

Dan: Real work? Crazy talk like that from our chief engineer and warp core specialist is cause for a little worry. Especially in a ship with no seatlbelts or airbags. The only possible solution to the numerous safety concerns this craft is raising is to install a Radio Frequency Jammer, and a IFF (friend/foe) detector to be prepared for any threat that may arise.

Me: You're talkin' like you ain't talkin' to the Captain of this finely crafted space vessel....
Daniel is now in charge of chewing all the gum for the composite hull. You have one week.
James is responsible for manning the Turbulent Path Sensor (TPS) array. I require hourly reports.
Michael is the Captain's Wench...he shall retrieve me a bottle of the moonshine I've been brewing in the warp coil.
-Dismissed.

James: The sensor array became over stimulated in recent tests and began emitting a white ooze, we are unsure of the effect this will have on the project. We have taken a sample and sent it to the lab for DNA testing, but it will take a week to get the results. As of right now all future tests have been put on hold and there is no ETA for when testing will resume. Needless to say my engineers are baffled by this recent development and need time to figure out the cause.

Me: James isn't allowed to work night shift anymore. Didn't I tell you to keep your 'inverse pulse experiments' to your private time? Watch that console for signs of...I bet that's how the Borg got started.

James: Ok well someone is going to have to pickup the slack, OO and I decided to decorate the inside of the spaceship with the magazines I had before the random emissions.

Me: I think you've been 'picking up the slack' enough for everyone.

James: OO I have been picking up something, but this spaceship will not build itself you know.

Me: Does anyone know where the Advil is? Who's in charge of stocking medical supplies? ZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz............................

James: Captain whats the status of this?...so far I have been fired/denied any requests I have made..let's get this ball rolling shall we. Dan is completely inept and is now eating his part of the project.

Me: Ooooo...NOT GOOD Danny Boy! You're never pooping again
James, none of your lip, mister. You're fired. Also, you're in charge of the medical supplies.
Everything else is being contracted out to Alien Hippo Corp.

James:
You fired me and gave me access to the medical supplies, which I just put on EBAY.

Oh for Fuck Sake!

Oh for Fuck Sake! My print head is misaligned again. I just printed this damn memo twice. The table it is on isn't sturdy enough, it shakes side to side too much.

Fuck. I've wasted alot of paper tonight. I'm buying cheap printer paper soon, not this nicer stuff I use for scrapbooking. Its not card stock, just good printer paper.

Fuck. Also, I will use the old printer, no matter how much it annoys me. No sense wasting my photo-quality ink on damn memo printouts.

***Update...realigning didn't work. How's that happen? Too tired to care, she's getting it as it is.*****

Late-night survey

My Personality

Neuroticism
85
Extraversion
1
Openness To Experience
49
Agreeableness
31
Conscientiousness
21

You are introverted, reserved, and quiet with a preference for solitude and solitary activities. Your socializing tends to be restricted to a few close friends. You can be very easily upset, even by what most people consider the normal demands of living. People consider you to be extremely sensitive and emotional. A desire for tradition does not prevent you from trying new things. Your thinking is neither simple nor complex. To others you appear to be a well-educated person but not an intellectual. People see you as tough, critical, and uncompromising and you have less concern with others' needs than with your own. You like to live for the moment and do what feels good now. Your work tends to be careless and disorganized.

You feel tense, jittery, and nervous and often feel like something dangerous is about to happen. You may be afraid of specific situations or be just generally fearful. You don't usually get angry too easily but some things can annoy you. You tend to lack energy and have difficult initiating activities. You are sensitive about what others think of you. Your concern about rejection and ridicule cause you to feel shy and uncomfortable around others. You are easily embarrassed and often feel ashamed. Your fears that others will criticize or make fun of you are exaggerated and unrealistic, but your awkwardness and discomfort may make these fears a self-fulfilling prophecy. You do not experience strong, irresistible cravings and consequently do not find yourself tempted to overindulge. You experience panic, confusion, and helplessness when under pressure or stress.

People generally perceive you as distant and reserved, and you do not usually reach out to others. You tend to feel overwhelmed by, and therefore actively avoid, large crowds. You often need privacy and time for yourself. You tend not to talk much and prefer to let others control the activities of groups. You lead a moderately paced life. You like some energetic activities, but also like to relax and take it easy. You get overwhelmed by too much noise and commotion and do not like thrill-seeking activities. You are not prone to spells of energetic high spirits.

Often you do not feel effective, and may have a sense that you are not in control of your life. In general you tend to be disorganized and scattered. You have a strong sense of duty and obligation, and feel a moral obligation to do the right thing. You are content to get by with a minimal amount of work, and might be seen by others as lazy. You have a reasonable amount of will-power and are able to follow through on tasks that you feel you need to complete. You can be distracted however and have been known to procrastinate. You often say or do the first thing that comes to mind without deliberating alternatives and the probable consequences of those alternatives.

Test Yourself Compare Yourself

Sugar...mmm sugar

Can you believe you can order Custom M&Ms??!!
Also, they have different flavors. I'm fond of almond, or peach, or maybe cherry. Ahh consumerism...though I doubt you can get custom M&Ms with different flavors. How cool would that be?

Speaking of sugar, I baked my semi-almost-famous pumpkin cheesecake this weekend. The commissary didn't have standard canned pumpkin, only pumpkin pie mix, WHICH IS DIFFERENT! Also, I got chatty (a rare thing) and kinda sorta overcooked it. I took it into the office this morning, and those who had some seemed to like it. Oopsie, I forgot to package up the rest at the end of the day. Its still sitting on the breakroom table. That's not good.

For those who have requested the recipe (Mom), now would be a good time to get a pen and paper. I adapted it from a recipe in my favorite cookbook ever, Better Homes and Gardens Biggest Book of Cookies. It was originally a bar recipe.

Crust
2 cups finely crushed gingersnaps
1/4 cup butter, melted

Punkin' fillin'

1/2 cup canned pumpkin
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
2 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice (to taste)

Cheesecake fillin'
4 8-ounce packages cream cheese, softened
1 cup sugar (or more, you'll feed this to other people )
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla
1 dash of pumkin pie spice (for fun)
4 eggs

Set oven to 325.
1. Lightly grease pan (oops), I use a regular cheesecake pan, but 13x9x2 should work. Combine butter and gingersnap crumbs. Press into pan, a large spoon works for this. Bake crust for 10 minutes or until firm (bake?...maybe next time).
2. Combine ingredients for pumpkin filling, set aside.
3. In a large bowl, beat cream cheese until smooth. Add sugar, spice, and vanilla, beat some more (cooking is kinky that way). Add each egg one at a time, beat until combined (i'm getting kinda hot).
4. Pour about 1/4 of the cheesecake batter into the pumkin mixture and mix until smooth (and yummy). Pour remainin cheesecake mixture into the pan. Spoon the pumkin mixture in dollops over top, and use a knife tip (i like chopsticks better) to gently swirl into a pretty pattern.
5. Bake until the end of time. Really, it always takes me forever, but at least 30 minutes. Its done when a toothpick or fork comes out clean. Cool on wire rack for an hour, then move to fridge 24 hours. If you try to cut it before 24 hours, DISASTER SHALL STRIKE YOU!!!!!! (no really, it'll suck)

I love October.

The Doctor will see you now.

Dr. Who season 2 premier was an hour and a half long, followed by another new hour long episode. Sweet. The Doctor did most of the first episode asleep, the rest in his pajamas. "Saved the world in my jammers, very Aurthur Dent." I love this show.

Today I had a bit much time on my hands, and wanted to know what the Nutrition Facts were for the banana I just had. I Googled and found this, the most useful nutrition site on the whole internet. Ever. You can easily lookup the food you ate, add it to your list, and edit the serving size to what you actually ate. Then it will chart the total of all your food all day. I've tried the food-guide pyramid before, but it was a pain in the ass and not very helpful. This thing is chart-y, and I do so love charts. Bonus, they are actually helpful and fairly easy to read.

I watch Eureka. If you don't watch the show, its good but kinda silly/lame/formula-driven. Classified town full of geniuses, wacky disaster every week. Fun to watch. Hey but if you like thinkgeek.com, then check out Made in Eureka. I wish I could get my hands on a ThinkBack Memory Backup Drive:

Never forget anything again! After downloading every moment, dream and experience you've ever had through the ocular interface (resembles a pair of goggles), the ThinkBack Memory Backup Drive stores them on a special hard disk, which will allow you to review your memories on the LCD screen. Now you'll be able to call up the lyrics of a song you heard last week or relive that amazing weekend you had by the lake house. You can even compress memory clips into MPEG-4 videos for sharing with friends. Don't really like where your life's gone lately? Just upload a previous backup to your brain and get rid of those bad experiences — quite literally; your old life won't even be a memory. The drive can hold a dozen memory backups from up to four people at once. Memory-editing software is optional, and requires certification from a licensed medical practitioner or professional philosopher.

Yellow Ribbon

Okay, morbid, politically incorrect, but exactly what I think about those stupid "support-our-troops" ribbons on gas-guzzling cars

Goodnight now.

And now, please enjoy this video of what I wish I could do at work. Did I mention I'm about sick of this shit? I'm pretty sure I'm sick of this shit. Shit.

Gmail rocks

So I was just checking my mail for an update from my english teacher (is my research topic approved or what??!!) when I noticed a gmail feature I'd never heard of before. Spreadsheets. Spreadsheets you can share with specific other people on gmail. Way neat. Sounds like a good way to do my checkbook, since hubby and I have a joint account for paying bills and we never use our checkbook register. For years, I have been using Works Spreadsheet or Microsoft Excel for my register because I hate the ones that come with the checkbook. I make too many mistakes, and I love SORTING!!! This year, the whole year, I just didn't do it. Wow. I left for Florida last January and now the year is almost over, wow. Anyway he always ended up never helping with it, never adding his things like when he pays the cable bill or transfers cash to his personal spending account. (We both have one, we both get the same amount each month, don't act like I'm the money-meanie wife.) Maybe this will help. Starting next year of course. Or maybe this November. I dunno.

Topic topic topic is my research topic approved??!?!?!?!?!?

So, this is the topic I sent her:

Should there be more restrictions on who gets fertility treatments and how they are performed, in order to ensure healthy births and promote adoption?

And this was the response:

I don't think it would be ethical to limit such a thing. If they can afford it, (it's very expensive and often doesn't 'take' the first few times) then it should be their choice. And I'm sure women have to meet certain health requirements now before they're approved for treatment. Is there perhaps another spin you could put on it?

So I said:

That's just the thing, in England they are having a big argument over restricting fertility treatments to women who are overweight. They are basically saying they can do it, but it won't be free like it is for 'healthy' people. Critics are saying its the first step in government only allowing those they see fit to reproduce. Eugenics and all that. I could draw from studies on health problems in children whose mothers are obese.

For something that applies more to the US, there are ways to prevent those extreme multiple pregnancies before the egg is even fertilized. Somehow the clinics get better ratings because of the increased number of babies born instead of the number of healthy births, so they don't want to encourage patients to take those precautions.

I think it can work, maybe if I forget about the adoption angle and stick with fertility treatments.

That was on Friday, and her I am at Sunday night and no response. I'm going to take this as a yes, because there is an assignment due tomorrow that depends on finding studies for the topic. I have to work tomorrow, so I have to go ahead with what I've got. I guess its too bad if she doesn't like it.

Here are the words.
I have broken down, and I will buy an iPod. I shall become a Pod Person, and it sickens me. Why am I dooming myself to using a popular piece of technology, when I am so obviously allergic to such mainstream behavior?

'cause I wanna listen to MY music before I go to bed, waaaaa!!!!

Yes, what I really need is a new alarm clock, and what I want is the ability to listen to music as I fall asleep. I dislike having multiple systems for multiple functions, therefore I require a multitasking device to do both. Therefore I will get an iPod alarm clock. Yes yes, a Pod Person I shall be.

Did you get the memo?

Out of alignment you say? Noooo....(incredulously)

So I always knew its bad to run over the curb on those pesky right turns. I know, okay. But its either curbs or puppies, and I'm not entirely heartless.

So its bad, yes, but I didn't know it was $100 worth of bad. So an alignment for my car went from around $80 to about $180. Plus new wipers, which I'm pretty sure I was scammed on. They charged me for two sets because each side was a different side. Yeah, whatever, even the guy who rung up the final bill thought it was a bit off. I was tired, I didn't argue. I should know more about my car so stuff like that doesn't happen. I should also use the mechanic I trust instead of going to Sears, but I knew it would take awhile and I wanted to shop around the mall a bit. On the upside, my car now drives straight without me turning the wheel to the left.

I just finished editing my paper for class, which will be peer reviewed again on Monday. Oh by the way, I won't be in class on Monday so I had to email it to my partners to turn in. Time to run a load of laundry so I can pack for the trip. I hate San Antonio. Please don't make me go again.

Invalid Subject line, you cannot leave the subject blank.

I just finished my 3 page paper for class.

woo. hoo.

I won't be in class next week, because I couldn't beg out of a training class being held out of town.

boo. hoo.

I was signed up for another out-of-town useless thing, that I can't get out of. Yet another week of real class (read: something I might actually need in the future) down the drain.

fuck. duck. fuck.

Time for bed.

Linkey

Well, this is all pretty depressing:

Banishment

But then there's this, watch the video to lift your spirits.

And then there's
this, which I will quote one of many paragraphs:

Its all about me. We still remain a dreadfully segregated nation, and much of the country shields its residents from even a passing familiarity with any alternative American experience to their own, leaving the majority of Americans incapable of comprehending how someone outside their race, sexual orientation, and particularly social class might arrive at a drastically different destination in life than they have. Knowing people who aren't like us is the key to empathy, to caring about the struggles, blockades, and even the most basic circumstances of people who don't share our individual experiences. People sniff at multiculturalism and shrug at the suggestion that international travel is a necessary experience to broaden our own isolationist horizons. We are actively discouraged, by omnipresent reassurances that America is the best country in the world! that we don't need to experience other cultures because they have nothing to offer (and we are actively prevented from world travel by being provided with the shortest vacation times in the Western world). America is the center of the universe for many Americans and often, not even the whole of America, but just their own region, state, town, neighborhood. Best place in the country in the best country in the world. Why leave, even for a day? Incuriosity. Ignorance. Its all about my home, my experience, me.

Christian finds 'religion' about the seperation of church and state.

Wow

Jackalopes are REAL??!!
And Wake Island is real too, but not for long.

I read most of this last night before I went to bed. Thought provoking.

I didn't agree to any of this.

English 1302 Writing Across the Curriculum means Writing RESEARCH PAPERS Across the Curriculum. (fuck) Anyone have a good idea for a research topic? No controversial topics, no politics or religion. Good thing, I hate those topics. But I still have to pick something. (Damn)

Oh, and in case you didn't know. Work still sucks donkey balls. But I am #1 on the CJR waiting list. Some of you know what that means. It feels alot like getting socks for x-mas, I feel like I should donate them to charity.

Curiosity Hurts

Okay, don't ask why. I was trying to figure out why, for crying out loud, is our state motto Show Me? I mean, it just sounds wrong. So, whatever, I look it up. Some senator who was all about common sense and seeing proof of whatever. Unimportant. Then I get really stupid, I look up "Missouri" in myspace music. Why? Don't ask. Just don't...

Hi!

HI!

My list of blog readers is sadly very small. Since I keep most of my friends down to those know me in 'real' life, my little space on the internet is to keep up with all of you.

Please subscribe to my bloggy.

Also, my legs itch and I dont know why. If I have angered you, my friends, please lift the curse. Really, I didn't mean to..

Countdowns

I'm really tired of being forced to be responsible for things I barely understand. I'm especially tired of two-faced individuals. Its all beginning to piss me off...

There were some pyzam.com countdowns here, but the code messed up my page. They just counted down to my separation from the AF.

Oh, I did manage to get into that Writing Across the Curriculum class, so the semester isn't a total loss.

Feasting on Asphalt

Its been a slow day. I didn't wake up until after noon. Hubby went to some gaming party. So I've been surfing, watching tv. So I'm watching Feasting on Asphalt on Food Network. My LOL moment of the day? Alton Brown is auctioning a shirt from the show and says "its autographed, which means you can sell it tonight on ebay to my mom for $1000."

Eh. I'm going back to days starting Monday, which means I really can't take any classes. I could take an english class in the afternoon, but there are only 3 seats left on Friday. It'll probably be full by time I can make it to the registration office. This sucks. I realized earlier this week that I would have 3 months terminal leave from work next year, so I can take a full course load next fall. Small consolation I guess. *sigh*

I have NEWS! of JMS producing new episodes of B5!
*Squee fangirl, squee!!!*

Photo Agony

What happens when your hobby becomes your nightmare???
All I needed was for this picture to fit in the frames of the box I bought. It isn't working. I still like the images, but the box is pissing me off, and I only have so much x-large photo paper to waste.

I title this one: Look at the Hair!!! Mwahahahah!!!

The Funeral

I keep saying I will post on this, so I guess I should. Its not like I have studying to do or anything.

Since I was very young, I had a perfectly distinct memory of attending a funeral. Many of the details have faded with time. Here is what I remember now. I walked in with my mother, into a room that was almost as skinny as a hallway. Approximately the width of a person's height, because there was just room for the casket at one end. As you walk in, the room is divided in half by the door, casket on the left. On the right-side, the room ended with white posts, strait across. As if people could peek in, without entering the door. The chairs were along each wall, facing inward. Mom had me sit in a chair to the right of the room, while she went to view the deceased. I remember looking at the wallpaper(obviously not the same pattern, but similar idea) bordering the ceiling. I remember the frilly little dress I was wearing, with the ribbon woven through the waist. I remember Mom asking if I wanted to go up and say goodbye.

Several years later, our family piled into the minivan and headed for some town North of St. Joe, to attend the funeral of a man who (to me) was a distant relative. I don't remember who. Someone mentioned offhand that this would be my first funeral. Obviously they had forgotten that I attended the one so long ago?? I insisted. My mother was certain. I described every detail. Do you remember Mom?? You finish the story.

Of course, maybe she was just screwing with me. She's like that sometimes.

***BORING UPDATE***
Well, Mom is no fun. She's gonna pretend she never said that that was a perfect description of a funeral SHE attended when SHE was little BEFORE I was born. That's what she said in the van that day. But now? No fun. Maybe she's just pissy because I posted those pictures of HER HAIR the other day.

The Link Collector

I took most of the week off to study for finals. I've felt like crap all weekend. I had a little wine on Saturday, which probably didn't help things. I felt better for a few hours though. I might make an appointment tomorrow. Maybe. Probably not. Oddly, right now is the best I've felt in a few weeks. I know I'm not better, but its still pretty good.

We saw two movies on Saturday too. Talladega Nights, and Descent. I had low hopes for Talladega Nights, and high hopes for Descent. I was pleasantly entertained, for the most part, on TN. Descent was disappointing. Predictable: I knew who had to survive, who would die, from the first 10 minutes. Over-gory: not that I'm opposed, but gory doesn't make a movie good. Also, most of the screen was black/dark for most of the movie.

Next time I'm going to watch the first 20 minutes of a movie, and then write what I think will happen, and have everyone confirm it when its over.

Tell me can spare some..

Ok, I got the lyrics a little wrong, so check out the difference, but I'm not going to change them here. I went out to the band's page and wow! Ardency Rue and Ardency Rue Site Lyrics

its no wonder, the things i did
the things you said, were running through my head

So far away, where have you been?
who have you told, and what did they say?

for rare occasions i have seen your face
i am blown away to the time and place
when i held you close and you touched my hand
and i could take that place in time

if i told the truth?

would you take a chance?

its no wonder the things you did
things i said were running through your head

rare occasions when i see your face
i am blown away to the time and place
when i held you close and you touched my hand
and i could take that place in time

baby i just need a little love
well tell me can you say so
baby i just need a little love

rare occasions when i see your face
i am blown away to the time and place
when i held you close and you touched my hand
and i could take that place in time

i could take that

baby i just need a little love
can you say so
lemme hear you say so

the best i can tell on the lyrics to my profile song, which i keep playing over and over and over and overand over and over and overand over and over and overand over and over and overand over and over and over baby i jus t need a little love...lemme hear you say so...

Book Quote

"I said-" Orca Cruz began.
He crunched his fingers down on the eye, shattering it. Something crome-yellow emerged in smoky wisps. A moment later Cruz felt the nerve agent infiltrate her lungs.
No one had to tell her it would be fatal.

Dude, guy gouged out his own eye and it was full of nerve agent

Slither? Eh, no.

Robert (an uber-fan of my glorious blogs) was asking if I have, or will be, watching the new movie Slither. I try to stay away from just those sorts of films. Which one was it where the bloody things spewed out of people's butts? I swear people were crap-birthing these nasty aliens. Something about dream catchers I think. Michael remembers. Only this Slither thing looks like it really wants to be a B-Movie.

I'm still hanging out in Florida for a couple more months. I can't wait to get back to the hubby in TX. Ugh! I can't believe I want to go back to Texass.

I should really be asleep about now, in preparation for a long day walking around the Kennedy Space Center tomorrow. I'm kinda excited again, we'll see. I've spent my entire day today reading Absolution Gap, and I've only got...lets see...87 pages to go. It's been ages since it has taken me this long to read a book. I started it in January I think. I guess its just a point of pride for me to finish it before I go to bed tonight. I used to read entire 800 page novels in a day, often starting at 8am and finishing at 4am....which in my reckoning is a day since its less than 24 hours, so piss off :P

I am sitting rather awkwardly with my legs crossed and my laptop on my lap. Where else? Anyway my left foot is asleep, and I'm dreading the period of waking-up that follows. TTYL.

OK, there goes the foot....OWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW

Grumpy

Ok, because of the coffee I didn't sleep until at least 230 this morning. I was tired and bitchy all day. Get over it. Then we were released from work early, at like 3pm. So I came back to the apartment and set my alarm for 5pm and took a nice nap. Now I have that fuzzy numb feeling from sleeping in the daytime for only a few hours. My coworker's birthday is tonight and we are all going to the Cheesecake Factory for dinner.

Since I'm waiting for it to be time for dinner, I guess I should relay my ups and downs today. Well, maybe just the downs because its kinda hard to type. In fact it's really hard to type without my right index finger, since I was taught to type correctly using home row and all that junk. I was setting down several large Dell desktops into the little electric vehicle we use for moving stuff like that. As I sat one down, I let it into a controlled slip for the last couple inches. A thin metal thingy in the back sliced a nice clean cut into my finger. Don't get me wrong, I can still type faster than most people I know :P

Lately I have had minor injuries nearly every day at work. This sucks. Two days ago the wire cart scraped my wrist just below my thumb on my right hand, so I have two bandaids on one hand. Last week, a laptop drive bay sliced clean into my left thumb just under the nail. I trip over everything, bump into things all the time, and have to prop computers up onto my thigh while picking them up. So I have bruises everywhere and my coworkers are generally sick of me.

Gah, but I'm sick of them today anyway. The one thing I want to do while stuck in Florida is visit Kennedy Space Center again. So I asked a couple people and they sounded really interested. It ended up pretty much everyone is invited, which is really cool because I don't want to go by myself. But then there's this one girl who completely takes control of it all and insists we have to go this weekend, starts hassleing everyone to agree with her even though half want to go next weekend. Then a couple people's feelings get hurt because they are basically being left out since they can't go and really want to. So finally I said I would go both weekends if they want, because I'm pretty sure I won't see everything in a single visit. It all just made me not even want to go because she was making it not fun anymore. She has to make everything a confrontation and have it all her way, she took over my fucking trip and now I don't want to go.

It doesn't help that I got 1 1/2 hours of sleep last night.

I am now extremely hungry and tired at the same time. Is it dinnertime yet?

Once Again, Fat and Happy

MMMMm coookies.

So, one of the people I work with is having her birthday tomorrow and I decided to bake the cookies she's been asking for. I made classic peanut butter criss-crosses. Except, and you may know this about me already, I did not exactly follow the recipe. I've developed an obsession lately for cooking with honey instead of granulated sugar. It's kinda working out. I have to add more flour because the honey makes the batter a bit too runny, but after that they turned out great.

I work with this other girl who hasn't ever baked cookies before, so she came over to help out and hang out. And she also brought her little chihuahua dog. Very cute, for a dog anyway. ;)

My roomate won't stop talking to me...I don't care...please stop...

I'm drinking coffee before bed, I'm never going to sleep tonight.

Another Workout Video I Hate

This is me feeling sorry for myself, and slightly pissed at myself, and generally worthless.

Ugh, workout videos.

I watched this one before trying it, and it seemed soooo easy. I have no coordination. I quit at the nine-minute mark in the video, but I think I got the full 15 minute workout. I replayed the warm up twice, the second section once, and then I started all over again because I was still tripping over myself. I finally gave up when I could barely restrain myself from screaming at the top of my lungs. It seemed so much easier than the other one yesterday, but its not. Maybe it was that since I had watched this one and knew what was coming up, I felt like I should at least be able to do it without falling over.

This is why I don't play sports. I am uncoordinated, and I hate feeling like a piece of turd even in the privacy of my own room. I recall throwing a hockey stick across the gym in the 4th grade. Klutzes with low self-esteem should not be made to play sports. Ever. If you want your face to still look like that afterwards.

Ugh, sports people.

I'm going to sit my fat self on the couch and eat a piece of cheesecake.

Old Photo

I just wanted to share this photo. I came across it while trying to find something to use my new software on. This one isn't edited:

Free Image Hosting at www.ImageShack.us

I think its funny because there is spray-snow on the window, a Halloween potholder on the wall, and I think my cousin Ben and I are decorating Easter Eggs. **Mom says they're X-mas candy. Uh huh, whatever.

So yeah that sucked...

I'm trying to stay in shape...or get in shape...

I have my problem areas, thick arms, big belly, thick thighs...ok I basically am a problem area.

So I bought a couple workout videos, and did one for arms today. Why? Because I want some ageless bimbo with no fat on her body to tell me 'you can do it'. Because I want to pout and wine for the entire thing because she refers to her arms as 'front' and 'rear' instead of RIGHT AND LEFT YOU FUCKING WHORE!

Deep breath now...and streach......bring it down now...good job.

My arms hurt.

Rose

I was at the gas station this morning getting my coffee and breakfast, and there was a guy there switching out the fresh flowers for the day. He gave me one! He said that it was old from yesterday so they can't sell them.

It's so pretty, a white rose airbrushed with purple and sparkles.

*I used to blog from work. I would also go to that gas station almost every morning for coffe and a breakfast biscuit. I had to be there before 0600. Those were NOT the days...

Best. Birthday. Ever.

I had a really awesome birthday today. Everyone was so nice at work, haha everyone kept telling me "don't do that, its your birthday" "dont sweep the floor on your birthday" and "why are you even here?" hehehe. I got hugs. Michael called me at work. He remembered!!! So proud of my sweet boy.

I got about 6 people to have dinner with me at PF Chang's, but there was a 1 1/2 hour wait, so we tried this Mitchell's Seafood and Bar or something. All I know is it was just a neat experience. We sat in the lounge and I saw there was a piano, how cool. Then someone started playing it!!! How cool is that??!!! I had my birthday dinner to piano music! Then there was the food....ahh the nummy food. Lobster Bisque. Shrimp. And Volcano Java Jive, with candles. And did I mention the piano? There was a guy playing piano. He played the song from the old Willie Wonka movie, "In a world of pure imagination...." Chocolate Martini. And a PIANO!

Amy should be an detective. She saw the pic on my background and started asking questions like...would you ever print it and frame it? Oh yeah, what size do you think? I think silver frame would go nice, don't you think? Hahaha she got me a nice silver frame for my picture. Someone else paid for my dinner, which had to be alot since I'm about to burst at the seams. How sweet are these people?

We decided to skip the movie, since we are all tired and full and have to work tomorrow. Goodnight all. And thank you all my myspace friends who wished my a happy birthday. And thank you Mommy for being my Mommy.

VAIO pt2

Do I have nothing better to do at 5am? Probably not. Note: My alarm usually goes off at 4am. Why am I still awake? NEW COMPUTER

Ok, so I switched over to gmail, so if you didn't get a message from me I don't like you anymore. Kidding. I'm not going to broadcast my email address here, so if you really didnt get a message from me then you'll have to guess what my new address on gmail is , not kidding.

Mmmmm the specs on my new computer:

VAIO FS Series
Intel Centrino Mobile Technology 1.73Ghz
Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition
15.4" Wide WXGA 1280x800 display
DVD R Double Layer with DVDRW2
523MB RAM and 100GB4 hard drive
3 USB, and one of those flash memory things for the camera! (the technical term of course)
Integrated Wireless (and faster!)

Might not seem all that great to you, but I was mucking along with this for the last 3 1/2 years:

Compaq Presario 900 PP2140
AMD Athalon 1.3Ghz
Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition
14.1 Inch Display, AND DARK DARK DARK
DVD/CD Player
523MB RAM (because I upgraded about 2 years ago)
80GB Hard Drive
2USB, Floppy (I'm gonna miss that)

I havn't reinstalled any of my old software, or the new Photo Impact Pro, which I also bought today. I really need Firefox back before I hurt someone at Microsoft. I might do that anyway if I don't get rid of all this default 'helpful' crap on the new system. Also, I am apparently crippled without my Favorites, and I forgot to move them over. OMFG I am my own annoying END USER! Save me from myself!

c'mon I just need my link to imageshack..

The living plastic and the moving models was a distinct taste of strange British comedy. I liked the show anyway, and I really liked the second one. It has more an air of seriousness than I expected, I could totally follow the emotional depth of the characters and their love for science and understanding of the reality of the universe and I could go on and on but I wont. Suffice to say I can relate to Rose and the Dr alot, and they have real chemistry.

I like that its not a Rosy-eyed, everything is fine in the end, kind of show. The Tree sacrificed herself for the ship and burnt to death, and it wasn't at a convenient time just as he got to the switch, it was before and it made the Doctor dig deep into himself to finish the job. The 'last living human' was a fake and a bitch, and in the end she shriveled up and died. The Dr. didn't show any mercy or regret for that.

The FX were a little off at times and really sharp at other times. For example the vat of hot plastic thing was totally off, but the little robotic spiders were dead on and really cool. It is just the first two episodes, so like other shows I think the FX will get better as we go along. I mean, go look at the first season of SG1 and compare it to season 2 or 3, big difference!

Sorry for the repost, I like to keep this kind of thing.

VAIO

Here I am, with my new laptop. The sleek, speedy, not-broken Sony VAIO. Now I have to go to work. More later. Yes Mom and Jesse, you can have the old laptop as soon as I prep it for you and get my stuff off it. Some duct tape may be required.

<3>

Which vaio? there are about a million of them but unfortunately 999,990 of the various models suck =(Posted by Fred on March 18, 2006 - Saturday at 3:04 PM

Reviving a dead mouse.

Some days I can't stand mice. Not the squeaky ones that leave droppings everywhere, but the round ones with buttons.
There are these devices for people who use more than one computer and only one Keyboard Monitor(Video) and Mouse. It's called a KVM Switch. It is the root of all my misery on a daily basis.

It supports PS2 mice and keyboards, which tend to crap out and stop working if they are unplugged or the power spikes or if you happened to look at your computer funny. This should be easy to fix, just restart your system and the mouse and/or keyboard should start working again. A monkey could do my job.

But no, restarting won't work most of the time, because the KVM does not have its own power source, it draws power from the keyboard's connection to the computer. Weird? Yes. So even when you shut down one computer the other ones connected to the KVM will still provide it with power. EVERYTHING MUST BE OFF SO THERE IS NO RESIDUAL POWER IN THE ENTIRE SYSTEM OF DEVICES. Every single tech in my office has their own rituals for reviving a dead mouse.

Fine! So everything is off, you must then unplug the mice and keyboards from the KVM and the computers, all of them, no cheating it wont work. Then wait two minutes. Bite the head off a live chicken and dribble the blood to bless the keyboard. The user's won't notice it amongst the accumulated ketchup drippings. A goat would work but there's too much blood.

Plug in the connection to the first computer, the one in the A position. Then to the box. Now apply power and dash a bit of salt over the mouse. If all goes well, the first computer's mouse and keyboard will come to life. Do the other computers just the same way in sequence. I promise it will work.

Unless you are connecting a laptop (or two!) up together. Yay! Because laptops have batteries that prevent you from removing all residual power from the box. Fuckin YAY! Sooo....before you wait two minutes you have to unplug the battery from the computer. That didn't work? Well did you hold down the grey button for 15 seconds and urinate on the power supply? I told you....gah! Okay well just remove the battery completely and power up without it. If that doesn't work, lets just replace the damn mouse.

I swear, a monkey could do my job.

As Slippery as My Mind is

Dammit, I typed an email and decided to paste it into my blog instead. Then when I get here IT WONT PASTE!!! Dammit. Now I've got to do it from memory. Someone find me some extra memory dammit!

Ahem. I spent the day watching reruns of Old BSG, because I had this wonderful day off. Did you know they used Frak in the original? I could've sworn it was invented for the new show. But otherwise the oldie is just a steaming pile of dren.

I've been invited to gmail 3 times now, and I havn't yet because do you have any idea how many email accounts and admin passwords and pin numbers and usernames and stuff I have to remember??!! I would have to tell all my contacts my new account, and try to bring over my contacts list and save my important emails and figure out which ones are important and what if OMG my bank account and my utilities are all tied to my yahoo. There's no way.

But then...I was thinking. Outch. Er.
I think google and myspace could totally kick ass with a deal to access your gmail via myspace. Then there would be me on the outside going..but but...I coulda been cool tooo!!! WTF people?! So maybe I will, but I'll only make it available to my pals on myspace. But can I change the email account my myspace is tied to? Grrr...

There was alot more, and I assure you all it was quite fascinating.
In my head.

I'm Human After All

The four of us ladies in the office went to the mall today after work. I had such a blast! I spent most of my $200. I actually bought 6 shirts, and they are so cute. One at Lane Bryant (thanks manders!) and the others at another very awesome store. I'm wearing one shirt now, a button up red with white pinstripes (I think that's what they're called), fitted very nicely and doesn't make my big belly obvious. Also bought a pair of shoes at Payless and a perfume at Victoria's Secret. It smells ssoooo yummy and fruity without killing my nasal passages. Oh yeah, I also bought the Serenity soundtrack. Ohh ohh must insert cd into computer...brb...k. Ahhhh.....

Did you hear me!? I had a blast, buying clothes, spending money. I can't stand perfumes, and I bought a perfume. Holy shit I am a real person after all. And the mall is sickeningly close to my apartment. It's all over now.

Oh, and my laptop is breaking, the cracks on the hinges are enormous. I may have to spend my bonus pay early. So if you don't hear from me all the sudden, or Michael if the bank account suddenly loses $1200...you know what's going on.

And 12 hour shifts are over for now, thank goodness. AND I have tomorrow and Monday off, since I had to work this morning. I picture laziness in my future.

Bellyaching

Alcohol gives me heartburn. I had 4 beers on Friday. I did not get heartburn on Friday.

Today I had orange juice. Today it hurts to breathe. Today everything tastes like orange juice. All I wanted was a glass of orange juice. Now I do not want to ever see orange juice again.

Honestly though, everything gives me heartburn.

I saw low-acid orange juice at the store last week, and the person with me couldn't understand why I was so excited. This week I will buy low-acid orange juice.

I bet it will give me heartburn.

The End.
